Model overview based on user reviews
The WD Black SN770 SSD is generally well-regarded for its price and speed, making it a solid choice for those upgrading from older hard drives. Users appreciate its PCIe 4.0 compatibility, though some note that a radiator plate is not included in the kit, which could help manage temperatures better. While the SSD performs well, there are concerns about temperature management due to uneven chip heights, which can lead to inconsistent cooling. Despite these issues, the SSD remains a popular choice for its performance and value, especially for those who do not require the latest PCIe 5.0 speeds.

A good choice for its price

I have been using the WD Black SN770 SSD with 500 GB for a little less than two years. In my opinion, it's a great choice in terms of both price and speed. I got it due to problems with installing Windows on a hard drive that's already 12 years old. But of course, if you're building a system from scratch, it's better to go for a terabyte. Additionally, I wanted the SSD to be the fourth version of PCIe. The speeds of the fifth version are simply not supported on my platform, and the price of such SSDs doesn't suit me personally.
Regarding temperature, everything is within normal limits. In the computer, it was under the motherboard's heatsink, but I had to move it to a laptop, where a copper cooling heatsink plate would have been helpful to reduce a few degrees, but it wasn't included in the package, even though it's clearly shown in the product photos in some stores.

The disk itself is ok, speed and so on, but for some reason the WD engineers made a nonsense that is incomprehensible to me, there are three chips on the disk that should be evenly adjacent to the radiator, one at the back and two at the front, and so they are made at different heights, the one at the back higher than those in the front and those in the front also differ from each other by about 0.3mm and it turns out that when you put a thermal pad, the lowest chip gets the worst contact with the radiator and will be the hottest. And as a result, in the program you will see two sensors at 30C and one at 49C (this is with a radiator without it, everything is +10 - 13 degrees). I partially solved the problem by cutting a piece of the gasket and putting it under the lowest chip, the temperatures dropped everywhere, but the difference between one and the other two is still always +18-20 degrees. But you just had to make everything the same height and there would be no problems... by the way, I have other SSDs on board and only with WD is this nonsense.
