My laptop got a "second wind". I bought my DELL Inspiron 5767 about three years ago, and it still has a pretty sturdy configuration: CPU Core i7 with Intel 620 graphics processor, 8Gb DDR4 RAM, discrete graphics card AMD R7 440 with 4Gb DDR5 RAM on board. However, technology does not stand still and for some programs this configuration is already outdated. Considering I've recently gotten into video editing, for Adobe Premiere PRO and Adobe After Effects, this configuration wasn't very solid even when I purchased the laptop, and the latest versions of Premiere and After Effects refuse to work with these graphics processors. Also, a serious obstacle for comfortable use of this software was the drive installed in the original configuration: HDD Toshiba 1Tb, 5400 prm. But working with it was still somewhat tolerable until I "clicked" the computer case right above the area where the disk was located. I'm amazed the disk lasted another whole three hours after that... The service center technician turned out to be a shifty character and installed a similar HDD to the one that failed, but used, which I found out very quickly. Red equals reliability
WD Red SA500 is a new line of solid state drives from 500 GB to 4 TB designed for 24/7 operation. Includes models of both the classic 2.5-inch form factor and the modern M.2, in both cases with a SATA3 bus. The main scope of these SSDs are NAS servers, that is, multi-disk network file storage. However, nothing prevents the Red SA500 from being used in both desktop PCs and laptops.

The Red SA500 is based on perhaps the best "old school" SSD controller — Marvell 88SS1074. It has two ARM architecture cores, eight channels of flash memory and supports external RAM cache chips. All this together allows him to develop the speed of reading and writing random files up to 95K and 85K IOPS (input-output operations per second), respectively. This parameter is especially important for those who often work with local databases (DBMS) containing a myriad of small files.
Selected Memory
The sequential read and write speeds of the Red SA500 also did not let us down: 560 and 530 Mbps, which is the practical limit of the SATA3 bus bandwidth. All thanks to the selected chips of SanDisk BICS3 64-layer 3D TLC flash memory (we remind you that SanDisk semiconductor factories are now Western Digital). A separate Nanya buffer RAM chip adds even more responsiveness to the system.
Universal Soldier
In general, the WD Red SA500 is a fast (by SATA SSD standards), reliable (600 TB overwrite resource for the 1 TB model) and, most importantly, a versatile solid state drive. It is equally well suited for NAS storage, work or gaming desktops, and most laptops. The only exceptions are thin ultrabooks, which simply do not have enough space for a 2.5-inch drive. It is for such cases that the M.2 version of the Red SA500 is provided. But be sure to check if a specific ultrabook supports an M.2 SATA SSD, or if an M.2 PCI-E is required, like the WD Black SN750.
