High-performance and capacious internal SSD drive with SATA 3 connection interface. Despite the use of TLC memory, this model shows consistently high performance both in read operations (550 Mbps) and in write operations (at least 400 Mbps). Such results are achieved by using a hardware platform based on the Marvell 88SS1074 controller with a 512 MB LDDR3-1866 DRAM buffer and Sandisk's high-tech 64-layer BiCS3 3D TLC NAND flash memory.
The controller is based on two ARM Dragonite v5 cores, supports error correction based on LDPC codes and works with memory in a 4-channel scheme. BiCS3 3D memory provides much higher performance and lower latency compared to the old planar memory. The overall performance of the WD Blue SSD 3D NAND [WDS500G2B0A] drive is ahead of many competing products, allowing the manufacturer to position this model in the middle price category. The drive can be used to create hardware configurations for modern home/office personal computers and entry-level workstations (with a small disk load). The specifications claim a guaranteed recording capacity of 200 TB, which makes it possible to record up to 55 GB of data daily for 10 years. In addition, there is a full three-year warranty.

Cloning Windows 7 from HDD to SSD was straightforward with the Acronis True Image program. The drive has ceased to be the system's bottleneck, plus the long-awaited fast startup of Windows. I installed my favorite games on the SSD, and fps increased on ultra settings. On the manufacturer's website, you can download the Acronis True Image software, which activates when the system detects this SSD. Then you can clone the drive with Windows. There is also a step-by-step guide for cloning Windows on the site. The absence of screws, but they are missing in 95% of SSD kits. It doesn't matter, they can be purchased separately, along with a bracket for the 3.5" bay (rails). ![]() |
Damn it, this disc can be called, albeit with a stretch, shock-resistant. I dropped it with my claws 2 times - no change in performance. Does not overheat. Does not lose performance (as of now). Waiting for me in future use, who knows... use WD WDS250G2B0A more than year |
The drive failed upon first powering on the computer, there were clicks, sparks, a firework in a word (the first time this happened), after which I immediately cut off power to the system and contacted for RMA (warranty service) at the official WD service center in Moscow, having only a good impression of them from previous interactions (though it was a long time ago). In general, I brought in the drive, which smelled of burnt plastic from a kilometer away, to their center, and the lady at the reception, citing two tiny scratches on the casing of the drive from the SATA connector side (everything with screws, stickers, etc., is perfect), which were most likely acquired when installing the drive into the case, denied the warranty claim, arguing that the drive was attempted to be tampered with and said to contact the store where it was purchased. A burnt drive, smelling like burnt plastic was attempted to be tampered with, Carl (without touching the screws and stickers)! And who would even think of tampering with a new SSD drive after a breakdown? They could have come up with something more believable. So, if you bought an SSD from WD and connected it even once to a computer, which can very well lead to wear and tear, the silicon giant will deny your warranty. There are still two of their SSD drives in the system, they're all okay, the power supply is Enermax Platimax 1000 watts, never had any issues with it, so it's clearly not my hardware. And finally, they suggested I complain to any authorities if something is unsatisfactory. P.S. RMA number #88003942. I'll update the review after receiving a response from the representation. Overall, I have no complaints about WD drives, and in general, the price-quality ratio of the products is good, but see the comments. Burned out when first turned on. Overall, not bad, defects happen everywhere, but see the comment. ![]() |
