The basic version of the third generation of Sony mirrorless full frames is positioned as a pro tool for which there are practically no impossible tasks. An updated 24.3 MP back-illuminated sensor is installed inside the model, thanks to which the camera shows a cleaner image from noise when shooting at high ISO values (ISO up to 12800-25600 units are considered working, and the maximum ISO mark reaches 204800).

The autofocus system of the Sony A7 III body uses 693 phase points and 425 contrast type points, covering 93% of the frame area. Autofocus can capture the subject in almost complete darkness, keeping it firmly in focus even in the maximum rate of fire (10 fps). A 5-axis matrix stub is put on guard for the clarity of the picture when shooting in low light conditions, which can compensate for up to 5 stops of exposure.

The mirrorless camera shoots video in ultra-high resolution 4K at a speed of 24/30 fps and a bit rate of up to 100 Mbps (8 bit 4:2:0 when recording to a fast UHS-II memory card and 8 bit 4:2:2 when transmitting video footage via the HDMI port to an external recorder). The battery life of the camera is estimated by the ability to "click" over 600 photos on a single battery charge.

Great camera, up-to-date for 2022

Lack of photos and videos simultaneously requires long reconfiguration when working in parallel mode.

After the Canon 6d, this is just some kind of miracle. I have been doing children's photography for several years now. I turned off autofocus on my camera after 2-3 shots, because... Most of the captured emotions had to be discarded due to mistakes. I learned to use a mechanical focus through trial and error. I saw that my friends were switching to system cameras and did not believe that this could be taken seriously. Tortured all the sellers in the Ufa photo store. In the end, I decided on the a7III with a kit lens, although they offered a body with Tamron 28-75f2.8
Eye autofocus!!! Thank you for this. No issues with battery life. The battery holds up well. At mass events, I use the kit lens, and for children's portraits, I bought an 85f1.8!!! Excellent video without any additional skills. I pressed the button and got short clips to promote my Instagram.
I thought the camera would be lighter. The combination with the 85mm 1.8 feels slightly lighter than the Canon 6D + 50f1.4.

Top-notch camera with professional features!

I got it after a Sony Alpha series. Night and day. Finally, a fully professional feature set. Is the optical gear expensive?! Everyone has expensive optics, but I don't need all of it. Lenses up to 55K rubles suit my purposes. And these are excellent from Sony for the price nowadays. Just in case, there's Tamron. I liked the ability to measure the exposure at the chosen focus point. The sensor that switches to the viewfinder doesn't irritate anymore - it only activates when the display is completely pressed against the body. The bayonet mount is reinforced with six bolts. The eye AF is very tenacious and maintains well. For prolonged use, I use a small power bank - it charges the camera while working. Video? Everyone praises it, but photos interest me more. The weight is very comfortable - I strolled around all day with the camera in hand, but I use a three-point wrist strap. I considered it as an alternative to a Z series from Nikon (I still have a D90 in the closet), but the lack of dual card slots, the expensive XQD, and problems working with external batteries (not all are compatible), plus the availability of Sony optics tipped the scales towards the Alpha series.
Autofocus speed. Eye-tracking focus for people and animals. Silent shooting. Charging and operation with ANY power bank! Two memory card slots. Compatibility with any studio light synchronizers. Built-in stabilization. The highest working ISO among full-frame cameras on the market.
The display does not rotate in portrait mode. The USB ports cover is inconvenient to open.

Full frame BSI sensor

Thanks to him, the mirrorless camera handles better with shooting at high ISO values \u200b\u200b(up to 25600 units) and produces a cleaner picture with a minimum of noise. In general, the sensitivity range of the image sensor is extended to 204800 ISO units. Inside the case, the matrix is installed on a movable stabilizing platform — the effectiveness of the stabilization system is estimated by the possibility of compensating for up to 5 exposure or exposure steps.

Hybrid autofocus

To match the top-end image sensor, the mirrorless is equipped with an advanced hybrid autofocus system. It consists of 693 phase detection points on the matrix plane and 425 contrast autofocus areas. The system supports aiming at the target by the eyes and provides reliable tracking of the object in continuous mode. The speed of continuous photography in this case rests on the threshold of 10 fps, and 89 uncompressed RAW files are placed in the camera buffer.

Optimal ratio

Videographers will like the camera for its ability to shoot 4K video from the full width of the sensor. In addition to the already familiar S-Log2 and S-Log3 profiles, it also supports Hybrid Log-Gamma for HDR shooting. The strong qualities of the camera are backed up by comfortable ergonomics, two memory card slots and an OLED viewfinder for comfortable sighting. Small flaws of the model are the non-rotating screen (it can only tilt) and limited touch control functionality (does not work in the menu). For all other points of the programme, the Sony A7 III is positioned as an excellent tool with an optimal price-performance ratio.
