One of the available models of internal 3.5″ hard drives with a capacity of 2000 GB from the 2012 Seagate Barracuda line of consumer HDD drives. It is positioned as a product of the basic price category, focused on use as part of the universal home and multi-purpose office configurations of the entry / mid-level. Its capacity is enough to store files of working projects, impressive volumes of photos, audio and video content of SD/HD/UHD resolution.
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST2000DM001 hard drive can play the role of a computer system drive and work in tandem with a more efficient SSD drive. Thanks to the use of proprietary technologies and high platter rotation speed (7200 rpm), it demonstrates an impressive sequential read / write speed (up to 210 MB / s). It has a moderate amount of buffer memory (64 MB), provides low (for HDD drives) latency: 8.5 ms for reading, 9.5 ms for writing. Demonstrates an average level of power consumption (8 W in recording mode), therefore, in order to maintain optimal thermal conditions, proper organization of airflows for easy blowing is necessary. The design load for this model is set at 55 TB/year, and the warranty period is 2 years.

An interesting situation) I am a student of the Faculty of Cybernetics, currently doing an assignment on "Computer Architecture" remotely to describe my HDD, I'm searching for information on the internet and stumbled upon here. My old companion has been working for 7 YEARS and it's doing fine. Not even any bad sectors) I just couldn't resist writing a review. I attached a photo to the comment, maybe I have a slightly different model, but the manufacturer is more than respectable, as are the drives. Described in a comment Noisy) For 7 years of work (23k hours) |
I bought this model of the drive a little over a year ago. I got it to store photos and videos of the family archive. A week ago, it just stopped being recognized by the system. The service center said the controller had broken. Now, to repair it (if that's even possible), I need to pay almost the same price as its original cost. But that's not the worst part. If the controller repair doesn't yield positive results, there's a chance to recover the data stored on it. Fortunately, there are experts who can be found through the internet. But the cost here starts at the disk price and ends... I calculated it like this: multiply the disk price by 4.5 to get the final cost of data recovery from the disk (if opening the sealed chamber is necessary). Please take this into account when choosing a specific disk! For additional reference, you can look at the hard drive failure statistics conducted by Backblaze. Everything is accessible and understandable there. Draw your own conclusions on what and for what purposes to buy. Price, when compared to "similar" models from other manufacturers, at the time of purchase. The reliability of the disk is very low!!! use Seagate ST2000DM001 month or more i recommend it don't buy |
Fortunately, at the time of the breakdown, there weren't any particularly valuable files on the disk. I specifically bought a 2TB model to store all sorts of things on it. Movies and music from the internet. It's a bummer, of course, but nothing disastrous, everything can be restored without any problems. That is, just download it again, it will take a couple of weeks at most. However, the next disk I buy will be from a different manufacturer. And to think, I had so many Seagates before this one, and there were never any problems, they served for 3-4 years, fully lasting their expected lifetimes. Quiet, no strong vibrations while operating. Moreover, probably one of the quietest discs I've ever encountered in my life. And I've encountered quite a few. Good performance. Even after a hard day's work, it didn't heat up significantly. Stopped working completely after a year of use. It just stopped working one day out of the blue. My friend had the same problem, and his lasted about ten months, no more. use Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 month or more i recommend it don't buy |
