Model overview based on user reviews
The Intel Core i7 Coffee Lake processor is highly praised for its excellent performance speed and ability to handle demanding tasks effortlessly. Users appreciate its capability to boost FPS and manage multithreading effectively, making it a strong choice for gaming and intensive applications. However, the processor is noted for its high price, which some find prohibitive. It also requires a good cooler and spacious case to manage heat effectively, as it can reach high temperatures without adequate cooling. Despite these considerations, the processor remains a powerful and relevant choice for users seeking long-term performance, with many users reporting satisfaction even after several years of use.

Take it, still relevant for a long time

Great processor! I bought it about 3 years ago, and during all this time, I haven't been able to load it fully with any program (except stress tests). I haven't even overclocked it, because why overclock when it handles everything effortlessly?
Very powerful.
They are missing, except the fact that it's a bit expensive.

overclocking after self-scaling up to 4.8 1.210 V across all cores, with be'quiet with 6 tubes of some kind) 90 degrees will still last long for home use. Games are getting better optimized for multithreading every year. For those who find it expensive, get the i5 8400(K), and when it becomes outdated, an upgrade to the 9900 can be done.

The processor is excellent, if only the price were lower, it would be a people's favorite)

I bought the I7 8700K and I have no regrets, the performance boost compared to the laptop I7 3610QM is very noticeable, everything works much faster. The temperature is also very pleasing, 28-30 degrees idle and 40-55 under load, but that's with the top cooler Be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 and thermal paste NOCTUA NT-H1, not sure how it will be with other coolers, but that's how it is for me. Installed the processor in the Aorus Z390 Pro motherboard, everything works flawlessly.

Twelve Friends of Intel

The Core i7-8700 is the new leader in Intel's consumer processor lineup. Possessing twelve high-frequency (auto-overclocking up to 4.6 GHz) virtual threads of the latest Coffee Lake architecture, it was able to outperform not only the sixteen-thread AMD Ryzen 7, but also the expensive Core i7-7800X Skylake-X for the LGA2066 socket. Moreover, unlike the above-mentioned processors, the 8700 has integrated graphics (maybe it will come in handy).

Serious Appetite

If the power consumption of Coffee Lake up to the Core i5 roughly corresponds to that of Kaby Lake, then the twelve-thread Core i7-8700 consumes clearly more electricity than the eight-thread 7700. In this case, Intel's switch to the updated LGA1151-v2 socket, which has more active power contacts, seems quite justified. And in general, it’s better not to save money on the motherboard for the Core i7-8700: it’s better to make a choice in favor of, if not a top-end, then at least a mid-price model with mosfet heatsinks.

Not a toy at all

The Core i7-8700 is the only 8th generation processor that costs slightly more (15 percent) than its 7th generation predecessor. But even at the same time, it turned out to be one and a half times more powerful in multithreading and 10 percent in single-threading. For building a gaming PC, even with a performance margin for many years to come, the i7-8700 is perhaps redundant. His destiny is professional workstations for video editing or three-dimensional modeling, which sooner or later will recoup the money invested in them.
