The number of energy-efficient cores (E-core) has been increased to 12. The frequencies for P-core have been increased by 200 Hz to 5.5 GHz, as well as by 100 MHz for E-core, compared to the previous generation.

High-performance 20-core processors of near-top level from the Intel Core i7 14th generation family (Raptor Lake Refresh, 10 nm). They offer significant performance improvements compared to previous Core i7 models (for example, 12th and 13th generations). For instance, the most advanced Core i7-14700K compared to its predecessor, Core i7-13700K, ensures a solid performance boost by adding four additional E-cores.

Based on tests, the performance increase in multi-threaded tasks is about 20%. It is built with a configuration of 12 E-cores + 8 P-cores, and the number of simultaneously processed threads is 28. The base frequency of P-cores is 3.4 GHz, and the maximum turbo frequency reaches 5.6 GHz. E-cores operate at a frequency ranging from 2.5 to 4.3 GHz.

The processor has 33 MB L3 cache. The maximum thermal design power (TDP) is 125 W, and the maximum power in turbo mode reaches 253 W. Intel Core i7 Raptor Lake Refresh processors are compatible with the LGA 1700 platform and require a BIOS update for full support of new features. They support DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0, which ensures high bandwidth and scalability for modern systems.

Plus, the Core i7 chips without the F suffix are equipped with integrated UHD Graphics 770, capable enough for online games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG. It is not yet known whether I have a deficiency or not. 35% load - goes beyond 100 degrees
K is cheaper than KF (surprisingly), which will be a small bonus when the discrete is disabled.
Very high temperatures at medium loads, without overclocking. TVB is off, watt package around 250. Water cooling.

I will check if it fits the pump properly - will edit the comment later.

Additionally, the issue with the quality of 13th and 14th generations is still unresolved (25% defect rate of all processors, read the news), and I am not sure if I don't have an oxidized defect.

Evolution or revolution?

Most experts agree that the 14th generation of Intel Core processors turned out to be walking in place. Compared to the 13th generation chips, their clock speeds have increased slightly, but that's all. However, in this uninteresting company there is still a black sheep in the person of the Core i7-14700K processor. In his case, Intel engineers did some serious work, increasing the number of cores and threads to 20 and 28, respectively. For comparison, the predecessor Core i7-13700K had 16 cores and 24 threads, and the maximum clock speed of the P-cores reached 5.4 GHz. The new product can accelerate to 5.6 GHz.

Results in games at the Core i9-14900K level

In general, the performance characteristics of the Core i7-14700K are such that comparisons arise not so much with previous generations of Core i7, but with the flagship chips of the Core i9 series. For example, in conjunction with the GeForce RTX 4080, this processor provides performance virtually at the level of the Core i9-14900K! The difference in power is only 2-3%, while the official price of the Core i7-14700K is almost $200 lower than that of the Core i9-14900K.
