How to choose a motherboard?Motherboard is the main part of any computer. Here's how to choose the right one for work, play and entertainment
Don't bother, problematic motherboard
7 February 2013
I bought it because I always trusted ASUS. But this motherboard convinced me that even very famous brands can have very serious problems. It is possible, of course, that I just got a defective copy. But I found too many complaints about it on the Internet. I am tired of this motherboard. I will change it for something more adequate. Maybe even a different brand. Lately I often hear that the legendary ASUS motherboards are not as good as they used to be.
Basically, nothing special. A regular motherboard for its price. It has no unique advantages. Overclocks normally.
The package is absolutely useless. The fan connectors are located in an extremely inconvenient way. When I was attaching the power supply, I was simply scared by how it was bending - the motherboard mount itself is ill-conceived. The sound quality of the integrated video card is not just bad, it is disgusting. I am not a music lover, but I did not expect this. Fortunately, I had an additional sound card from an old computer lying around in a drawer. Also, the video card driver periodically crashes, which worked perfectly on the old motherboard (also ASUS). I also read on forums that this motherboard is very sensitive to static, it can freeze when opening the case lid. But I have never had this happen before.

I don't recommend anyone to buy this item for a home computer, unless you're an Asus geek.

Actually, these same drawbacks affect the P8Z77-V LX2 as well.

I do not recommend purchasing either motherboard, unless you want to have a headache in a couple of months.
The benefits include only 6 SATA ports (2 SATA3 and 4 SATA2). Everything else is quite standard and expected.
However, the subject has very serious drawbacks:
1) poorly positioned SATA ports - when connecting devices to them, you might break the port itself since they are mounted in mid-air
2) constant system freezes due to conflicts between the BIOS and Intel Management Engine, for which the solution requires (!!!) installing an older version of the BIOS, updating the IME, and then installing a newer BIOS. And even then, there's no guarantee it will help.
