It seems like a top for your pennies! Abo is a miracle alternative to 3600. Cold, in games 44-65tdp and grits with a boxed cooler no more than 55-60 degrees. Can't cope with a 32 gigabyte RAM and more with XMP 3600 and more so, blue screens are flashing, and pardons in robots.  Maks Kaldorey: use AMD 5500 BOX few months |
This guy fired up without any problems out of the box on the B450M Tuf Gaming pro2. I bought the motherboard and CPU at Enko, the motherboard was flashed for the 5000 series (it was indicated on the box, next to the 3000 series mark there was another sticker for the 5000 series). Out of the box, the CPU worked at 4.0 frequencies. With the help of Ryzen Master, the CPU was overclocked to 4500 without any problems, which took about 15 minutes. When cooled with the stock cooler, the temperatures at average loads are ~75-80 (if you plan productive work with 3D, you should get a better cooler). I use 3600 CL16 RAM from Kingston. As I expected, excellent performance even with modern games and 3D software. For rendering, a more powerful cooling system is needed. Simply outstanding integrated graphics performance. Based on YouTube tests, much worse was expected, but with Crucial 3200 CL16 it delivers ultra settings in Far Cry 5. Overclocking RAM to 4533MHz and the integrated graphics to 2300 gives a huge boost, around 30% FPS. Sufficient for both work and gaming (from The Witcher 3 to Cyberpunk, albeit on low-medium or solid medium settings but with Fidelity on quality). P.S. The TDP is very misleading; without good airflow, be prepared for shutdowns due to temperature sensors as they can easily overheat on the stock cooler. The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 is undoubtedly the best value six-core processor on the market, with the Tray version without a cooler costing less than $100. The AM4 compatible motherboard and DDR4 RAM are also cheap compared to AM5 and DDR5. Thanks to the architecture, Zen 3 has high performance per core, and SMT technology parallelizes it into 12 virtual threads.
Memory overclocking
The L3 cache size is half that of the previous Ryzen 3600, but the cache is fast dual-channel 8+8 MB. And the RAM is capable of operating at up to 4266 MHz in Gear 1 synchronous mode. Even after automatically overclocking the cores, Precision Boost generates very little heat - only 40 W in games, which is even less than the manufacturer's TDP level of 65 W.
Deprived of a video card
Even a mini tower with a 9cm fan will provide virtually silent cooling. There is no integrated video card, or rather it is disabled, otherwise the processor would be called 5600G. And for the discrete GPU, the PCIe 3.0 x8 bus is available, which is a problem only for the Radeon RX 6400 and 6400 XT. Owners of more powerful video cards need not worry.
