Support for 500 series motherboards. B450/X470 chipsets depending on board manufacturer's firmware.

Powerful mid-range 8-core processor based on Zen 3 microarchitecture (Vermeer core, 7nm). Compatible with motherboards equipped with AMD AM4 processor socket and AMD 500 series chipsets (compatibility with motherboards based on B450 or X470 chipsets is not supported by all manufacturers). It is a representative of the 3rd generation of the AMD Ryzen large family of CPUs. Unlike the 2nd generation, the internal design was noticeably changed in that model (switching to a single-chip layout, which reduces inter-core delays) and the architecture of most functional blocks was significantly improved, which significantly increased the specific performance per clock (+19% IPC).

Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading Technology (SMT), each physical core of the AMD Ryzen 7 Vermeer processor is capable of performing two computation threads (up to 16 threads in total). This model is perfect for equipping a performant multi-purpose home PC, gaming system and entry-level workstation. It will show high results in multimedia content processing tasks (FHD/UHD/4K video editing and compression, working with ultra-high resolution bitmaps, processing complex multi-channel audio materials), cope with moderately complex rendering of photorealistic visualizations, and speed up the compilation of projects in software development.

Flagship performance

AMD is positioning its new brainchild as the ultimate solution for all tasks at once — this means flawless processor performance in work applications and excellent performance in games at the same time. And on the network, he was nicknamed in advance "an eight-core with the habits of a flagship and an almost flagship price tag."

Bad positioning

Such positioning has already played a trick on the chip. Many users say that the performance of the previous generation Matisse is enough for them. And yes, the prices are better. On the other hand, it is supported by Intel, whose processors for once turned out to be cheaper than those of AMD. It turns out that the Ryzen 7 5800X is at the crossroads of three roads: demanding users will better throw money on Ryzen 9 5900X or Ryzen 9 5950X, gamers will save money by buying a Ryzen 3500 or 3600, and everyone in the middle will probably be more profitable to look towards Intel.

Competitor Core i9-10900K

Price and positioning aside, the Ryzen 7 5800X is impressive. No not like this. HE IS IMPRESSIVE. In single-threaded mode, this eight-core chip outperforms the ten-core flagship Core i9-10900K by 8%; in multi-threaded archiving and rendering tests, the plus or minus advantage over the brainchild of Intel remains. It also has lower power consumption. In gaming tests, we got parity with Intel — in RDR2 and Rage 2, the "stone" from AMD slightly outperformed its competitor from the Intel camp; in Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus and Battlefield 1 lagged behind by 2 – 3%. Apparently, the claim that Intel makes the best gaming processors has lost all relevance.
