Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S 64 GB

One of the most tidbits in the mid-low-cost arena with a decent margin of gaming performance, a juicy large screen and serious ambitions in the mobile photography genre. The high-speed "flight" of the smartphone is provided by the powerful Snapdragon 720G chipset, which handles the lion's share of "heavy" applications and modern games at medium-high graphics settings. The amount of memory in the on-board equipment of the model was distributed in the ratio of 4 GB of RAM against 64 GB of ROM.
Moreover, there is an expansion slot, separated from the "seats" for two SIM-cards. In a separate line, mobile gamers will appreciate the presence of a 3.5 mm audio jack. The screen of Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S 64GB is stretched diagonally by 6.67" and shows a picture at a maximum resolution of 2400x1080 pixels (taking into account the aspect ratio of 20:9). The smartphone takes photos with a quad camera from the rear (48 + 8 + 2 + 2 MP) and a 16 MP front camera with a face authentication function. An alternative way to unlock a mobile gadget offers a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. To complete the picture, the smartphone lacks perhaps an NFC. But the infrared port, as an integral attribute of Xiaomi mobile phones, is here in its proper place. The internal components of the device are powered by a capacious 5020 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging function.

Camera, IR port), Design of the device, Possibility to install custom firmware MIUI sucks, overheating in games (MIUI). |
Adding to negative reviews simply because they are read more often, and I specifically want to share my experience using the smartphone. Let me say right away, I bought the phone on the Xiaomi Mi Store app for 13,990, so probably that's why I didn't find any defects. There may now be "better" phones for this money, but if you decide to buy this phone, you are unlikely to regret the money spent. I may have forgotten to mention some pros/cons. Battery: I spend most of my day on my phone, probably around 9-11 hours. During this time, it's either running YouTube or some games. Within these 7-8 hours, it loses up to 80% on brightness below average. Performance: During all the time I spent playing games, I didn’t notice any performance issues due to the phone's power. Lags in games only occur because of a weak internet connection, not because of the phone's communication module, but simply because of "dormitory" conditions. Charging: In my opinion, if the phone charges from 10% to 90-100% in an hour to an hour and a half, then it charges quite quickly. Main camera: The quality satisfies me, evening shots look nice, although the camera might make them a bit too bright. The camera is probably slightly sensitive as the hands can shake, sometimes requiring 2-3 shots to avoid blurriness. I used the standard camera app, and many recommend GCam, so the quality might be even better. Front camera: The quality is excellent, just a reminder that, like any camera, you shouldn't point it at the sun, obviously the results won't be great). Dimensions: For those who have used 6-inch phones or smaller, it might be uncomfortable to use the phone with one hand during the first weeks or even months, simply because reaching the other part of the screen will be difficult. Because of this, it might be slippery, so I advise buying a case that can absorb some of the impact in case of a fall. No NFC: I usually keep my phone in my pockets, so I'm sure it's always with me, but I can forget my purse with cards/cash and then I might not have anything to pay with. However, I knew there was no NFC, so I made my choice. Front Camera: As some say, the front camera heats up more than the rest of the phone, but I wouldn't say it gets very hot. Moreover, with a plastic case, you probably won't feel it. Phantom clicks: It seems like any Xiaomi smartphone has this issue, which shows up after some time; it's annoying, but oh well, nothing can be done, we hope it will be fixed someday. Mi Browser: The browser is decent, but if you follow links from VK or WhatsApp to this browser, all tabs might close. Also, after certain actions, the browser history might be cleared, but I don’t know exactly after which actions. Google Chrome: Another pre-installed browser, with similar problems. About 3-4 months ago, I discovered that it could freeze randomly, although the phone's interface remains functional. It is resolved by closing and reopening the app. |
When you start using the phone, you really like it, but over time, it becomes nothing more than just a good phone. Unusual appearance and a pleasant price The processor is good but not for gaming and heavy tasks The RAM on the 64/4 GB version is insufficient The screen started flickering after 3 months of use The firmware lags, and there are occasional app crashes The size is something I didn't like from the start, my pockets are smaller! |

New people's favorite?
Meet Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, also known as Redmi Note 9 Pro in India, a new contender for the title of popular smartphone with a price tag of up to $250. Externally, the global version of Redmi Note 9 Pro is no different from the older model Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, and the technical differences mainly rest on the camera: Redmi Note 9S has a 48 MP Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor instead of 64 MP, and the resolution of the front camera has been cut down exactly widow, up to 16 MP. By the standards of its class, the camera looks very good. If we talk about daytime shooting, then it is right up close to the flagships of three or four years ago. For a pipe for 200 evergreens, this is a cool result.
Margin of safety
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor is responsible for the performance of the novelty, which operates at a maximum frequency of 2.3 GHz. The amount of RAM is 4 and the amount of storage is 64GB. Given the support for microSD cards, there should be no problems with quickly filling up the memory. When compared with competitors, the filling is very performant and is unlikely to lag somewhere. It's bad that the processor heats up noticeably in difficult tests like synthetic tests or games.
real phablet
The IPS-screen with a diagonal of 6.67" has a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels and sports a small hole for the front camera right in the centre. The display shows a clear, moderately colorful image. The calibration is adequate, the contrast is moderately high, only a small margin of brightness is missing, so the colours will fade under a very bright sun. At the same time, like all phablets (if you can still call them that), Redmi Note 9S suffers from a mild form of gigantism, which, judging by the comments on the network, does not suit all buyers. This is only partly true, because now every second smartphone has a length of about 16 cm, so the extra millimetres back and forth do not make much difference. It still won't work with one hand.
5020 mAh battery with fast charging
Otherwise, Note 9S gives exactly what you expect from a good low-cost smartphone: modern communication modules, a USB C port, but with a separate headphone output, fast charging and a capacious 5020 mAh battery. It stands out here except perhaps not quite an ordinary fingerprint scanner, which fit in the side button. To complete the picture, the smartphone lacks only an NFC chip, which Xiaomi regularly ignores. But the infrared port, as an integral attribute of Xiaomi mobile phones, is here in the right place.

1) After updating to MIUI 12.5.(1-2), I encountered system lags (The screen would stop working for a while and the image would freeze).
2) In games, there was heating, and quite significant.
Switched to custom firmware Pixel Experience
The problems disappeared (Used custom, the standard camera is lousy).
The system became smoother (Compared to MIUI), + the lag after reboot disappeared.
