One of the lightest portable 1TB SSDs

Silicon Power PC60 is an affordable portable SSD with basic features, a wide range of capacities, and a convenient design. The casing is black and adorned with a symmetrical pattern reminiscent of ripples on water. Weighing only 45 grams and measuring 80x80x11 mm, the device is considered one of the lightest 1TB SSDs.

Slow but steady

In terms of speed, the PC60 is a classic SATA SSD, typical of the era before the widespread use of NVMe. It delivers up to 540 MB/s read and up to 500 MB/s write speeds. When the SLC cache fills up, the speed can significantly decrease, and the budget SM2259XT controller does not handle this well. To avoid performance drops, it is recommended to leave some memory free for caching.

A modern replacement for flash drives

Given its features, the PC60 is excellent as a replacement for traditional flash drives — for storing and transferring home archives, games, work documents, and other files that do not require frequent rewriting. It’s also convenient for backups. However, for tasks that require frequent writing of large amounts of data, it’s better to choose an external SSD with a DRAM buffer and speeds from 2000 MB/s — there are plenty of such models on the market now.
