Model overview based on user reviews
The Nikon D500 body is a highly regarded digital SLR camera, praised for its advanced features and performance. It boasts a 21 MP APS-C CMOS sensor with a wide ISO range, expandable up to 1,640,000, and a 153-point autofocus system borrowed from the professional Nikon D5, making it ideal for fast-paced photography like sports and reportage. The camera supports 4K video recording and offers wireless connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC, enhancing its versatility. Users appreciate its long battery life, capable of over 1200 shots per charge. However, a significant drawback noted is the lack of VR functionality with certain lenses, specifically the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR, due to a missing firmware feature. Despite this, the Nikon D500 remains a top choice for photo enthusiasts seeking a robust and feature-rich DSLR.

great model, love it

there is no point in listing many advantages, but there is a very serious drawback about which the factory is silent, and also the official Nikon website does not work VR with Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR the reason is not in the Nikon D-500 settings, the d10 tab (VR activation) on and off for photos there is no firmware “C” 1.15 although the instructions clearly show the d10 tab but this is an error! It’s simply NOT in the Nikon D-500! with video everything is easier in the settings, this function is on or off VR if you do not use this lens without external VR switches on it, then you can turn a blind eye to this drawback

A true flagship among crop cameras, it bears the well-deserved title of “the best DSLR for photo enthusiasts”. And you can't argue with this statement.

153 AF points

The main highlight of the camera is the autofocus system, borrowed from the top professional Nikon D5 DSLR. Autofocus has 153 points, 99 of which are cross-shaped. Considering that the system was originally developed for a full-frame matrix, on crop it covers almost the entire field of the frame. Another important feature related to autofocus is called Auto AF Fine-Tune. Its meaning lies in the possibility of in-camera calibration of the focus module for a specific lens, which allows you to completely get rid of back and front focus — the eternal misfortune of all DSLRs.

Record ISO

No less respect deserves the range of sensitivity. If in normal mode it is no different from the solutions of rivals in the class (100-51200 ISO units), then in the extended mode it has no competition at all — among consumer cameras, shooting at maximum ISO over 1640000 units is given only to the full-frame flagship Nikon D5.

Speed indicators

The high speed of continuous shooting (10 fps) and a capacious memory buffer (up to 200 RAW-shots) make sports journalists and fans of the reportage shooting genre look at the camera. They will also appreciate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC wireless connectivity, which makes it much easier to quickly transfer footage to a compatible device for post-production or post-production.

4K video

The DSLR received an atypical for its class ability to record 4K video. Usually, the prerogative of recording video in ultra-high resolution was given to mirrorless cameras. When recording videos, it is convenient to look at the rotary 3.2-inch display and tap on it to change the main shooting parameters. Naturally, to get high-quality sound, the camera has in its arsenal ports for connecting an external microphone and headphones.

On high

The list of advantages of the top crop should also include long battery life — one charge of the built-in battery is enough for more than 1200 shots. Perhaps the only drawback of the camera is its price. But you have to pay for the quality, and in this case it is on top.

Reference. Back focus is an oversight of the autofocus system, in which the camera focuses behind the subject. Front focus is exactly the opposite, i.e. focus occurs in front of the subject. Both phenomena are inherent exclusively to DSLRs and appear the stronger, the higher the aperture ratio of the optics used.
