An entry-level DSLR that will fit well as the first camera with interchangeable lenses for beginner amateur photographers. Beginners are provided with a 24-megapixel APS-C matrix without an anti-moire filter (its absence has a positive effect on image sharpness), an 11-point autofocus system and a rate of fire of 5 fps. However, the predecessor Nikon D3400 kit 18-55 had all this.

Of the innovations, attention should be paid to the increased battery capacity (up to 1200 shots on a single charge), a 40-gram lighter body and the introduction of SnapBridge technology, the meaning of which lies in the transfer of footage to a compatible smartphone in the background using energy-saving Bluetooth low energy technology. The screen of the model is non-touch and fixed; the camera also has an optical viewfinder with x0.85 magnification and 95% coverage of the frame field. Out of the box, the DSLR comes with an 18-55mm lens.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Nikon D3400 kit 18-55 is a highly recommended entry-level DSLR, praised for its excellent image quality and sharp kit lenses. Users appreciate its lightweight and compact design, making it easy to handle for extended periods. The camera offers good autofocus and a fast shooting speed of 5 fps, with beautiful color rendition and low noise levels. The SnapBridge function is highlighted for its convenience in transferring photos instantly to smartphones. However, some users note the lack of a rotating touch screen and a microphone port as drawbacks, particularly for video enthusiasts. Despite these minor cons, the D3400 is considered a great choice for beginners and hobbyists, offering great value for money and high-quality images comparable to more expensive models.

The best choice in terms of price-quality ratio, price/quality of images
24 August 2018
In terms of ergonomics, it is clearly inferior to the Canon, it’s worth learning how to make buttons, installing a rotating touch screen, making a comfortable handle. I understand people who prefer the Canon, it is clearly more convenient to use. Despite the disadvantages, this is at least a good camera that I can recommend to beginning amateur photographers, as well as those with a limited budget. The photo quality is not inferior to the older models D5500 and D5600, and in some places even better. Even in dxomark this camera has a higher rating than the older models listed above. I took it with the 18-55 af-p II lens, the lens is good: one of the advantages compared to the old version is that it has an absolutely quiet focusing mode and now the video is inaudible. but it also has disadvantages: small diameter and low aperture. In the future I plan to buy a cheap TV camera like 70-300. According to tests on the dxomark website, Nikon is an order of magnitude better than Canon. This is really true: I have a canon 750d and a nikon d3400, and the pictures taken with the Nikon are really better than with the Canon, although the Canon is 10 thousand more expensive!!!! Well, by the way, the pictures were taken with approximately the same optics on a Canon, there was a stock 18-55 is stm 3.5-5.6 on a Nikon 18-55 vr af-p II 3.5-5.6. Nikon has more accurate and richer color rendition, less noise, more accurate focusing
1. Excellent color rendition 2. Photosensitive matrix, it’s not for nothing that they advertise DX technology, as I understand it, this is an analogue of dual pixel technology 3. Low noise 4. Fast and accurate focusing 5. Possibility of synchronization with a smartphone: photo copying, automatic time adjustment, also takes information about location and copies it very cool, that is, location data is saved, although the camera does not have built-in GPS 6. I listed the main advantages, I may add more later 7. Compact size; 8.Fast and perfectly tuned and calibrated image processor
1. The lack of a rotating screen, this is really a minus on Canons for a long time, they have been doing this on all models in this price range, and even more so on more expensive ones; 2. I don’t know about you, but with a large hand, it’s uncomfortable for me to hold; the handle doesn’t have enough depth. Because of this, it is difficult to pick up and turn on the camera with one hand; 3.Bluetooth for photo synchronization is not the best choice, because if you synchronize full-size original images, which most will do, it will take a very long time; 4. Not a touch screen, this is important for me, as I’m used to controlling both smartphones and Canons through the sensor; 5.The display does not turn off when you look through the viewfinder; 6.The buttons are recessed into the edging and are inconvenient to press.

great model, love it

An excellent camera, even with whale lenses. I’m very pleased with the picture. The only drawback is that you won't be able to touch the ISO too much. But for the money it's a great weight.
Normal functionality (for example, you can set the ISO ceiling, there is a liveView), sharp whale lenses, weight, the original flash works well, good autofocus, 5fps is enough, beautiful colors and pastel tones in native jpeg
No screwdriver, ISO above 400 is visible, above 1600 is not acceptable,
use Nikon D3400 body week i recommend it should buy
great DSLR! take the carcass without hesitation and fix it with 35 or 50.

Excellent pictures with a 50mm Nikon prime. In combination with a prime lens, the camera is very light and your hands do not get tired even after 3 hours of shooting. Compared to the d7000, the difference is noticeable. I bought it because of the snapbridge function. Incredibly convenient! You can immediately view the photo on your smartphone.

lack of a microphone connector, but I don’t shoot video with sound for my needs. At work I use the d5200 to shoot video.
