Performance-cores are high-performance cores capable of simultaneously executing up to two computation threads. Efficient-core — energy-efficient cores do not support Hyper-Threading and are designed to handle background workloads.

Top-of-the-line, high-performance 16-core desktop processor from the 13th Gen Intel Core family of chips based on Alder Lake (10nm). Designed for installation in gaming and work systems equipped with motherboards based on LGA 1700 processor sockets and 600 series chipsets. Unlike the top Intel CPUs of the previous 11th generation Rocket Lake, in this line, Intel engineers switched to a new 10nm process technology, added support for DDR5 memory, and redesigned the microarchitecture of the cores.

Instead of identical cores, as it was before, Alder Lake chips use a hybrid structure, in which the cores are divided into 2 classes: Golden Cove performance and Gracemont auxiliary. Thanks to this approach and support for Thread Director technology, the Core i9-12900KS processor is able to distribute computing tasks more efficiently, loading P-cores with things like games and profile applications, and E-cores are included in basic tasks like browsing or writing text.

In total, the processor includes 8 such cores, E-cores operate at a frequency of 2.5 GHz and can be overclocked to 4 GHz, while the maximum frequency of P-cores when TurboCore technology is activated can reach 5.5 GHz. P-cores support Hyper-Threading technology. Combined with the increased clock speed, this provides a significant boost in performance, making the processor an excellent choice for workstation use for rendering, editing, math, 3D modeling, and more. For games, its capabilities are redundant, and the bottleneck of the system is the video card. In the absence of a discrete video card, the monitor can be connected to the UHD Graphics 770 video card built into the processor, which can handle conditional FIFA 22, CS: GO and Dota 2. The declared heat dissipation of the chip is 150 W in normal mode or 241 W at peak load.
