New Intel LGA 1851 Platform
After three years of active support for the LGA 1700 platform, Intel has introduced a significant update to its product lineup. Instead of the usual Intel Core, the market is now seeing the release of the modern Core Ultra processors, with the socket 1700 replaced by the more advanced LGA 1851 platform. The new chips feature a redesigned neural module, enhanced energy efficiency, and, which might disappoint some specialists, the removal of Hyper-Threading technology. Among the new offerings, the Core Ultra 7 265KF processor stands out, belonging to the mid-range segment.
20 Hybrid Cores, Lion Cove and Skymont
The Core Ultra 7 265KF is equipped with 20 cores using a hybrid architecture known from previous Intel models. Eight high-performance P-cores Lion Cove operate at a base frequency of 3.9 GHz with the potential to boost up to 5.4 GHz, while twelve energy-efficient E-cores function in the range of 3.3 to 4.6 GHz. The processor supports the PCI-E 5.0 interface, is compatible with DDR5 memory up to 6400 MHz, and features a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU).
High Per-Core Performance and Advanced AI Capabilities
Although in gaming benchmarks, the Core Ultra 7 265KF is outperformed by its predecessor, the Intel Core i7-14700F (by 12–18% depending on the game and settings), it is well-suited for versatile configurations that combine work and entertainment. Thanks to its high single-threaded performance, this processor will interest users whose tasks do not scale with the number of cores — for example, music producers. The integrated neural block, with a performance of 13 TOPS, will be useful for working with Copilot and other AI tools without cloud connectivity. The LGA 1851 platform also offers extensive opportunities for future upgrades. Overall, the solution fully aligns with the spirit of Intel's latest innovations.
