High-quality DDR4 RAM with rather serious passport characteristics, good overclocking potential and catchy appearance. Part of the Trident Z series dedicated to overclocking enthusiasts, it belongs to the upper price category. It consists of a pair of modules with a capacity of 16 GB, which in total gives a rather serious array of RAM, the capabilities of which are enough to solve most gaming, multimedia and professional tasks. Thanks to selected memory chips, the slats start at 4000 MHz. If you play around with the timings and operating voltage of the memory, then it can theoretically be overclocked to 4600 MHz, thereby bringing it closer to the speed indicators of DDR5. In order for the modules to overclock properly, they will need a high-end motherboard with a powerful power subsystem,...a flagship chipset, and support for XMP technology. And so the manufacturer guarantees compatibility with PCs based on Intel Core and AMD Ryzen chips, which came out in the period from 2015 to the present. For cooling while overclocking, the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB are equipped with stylish plain metal heatsinks, which usually act as a canvas for the company's designers. This set is dominated by black, part of the heatsink is made of deliberately rough brushed aluminium, and the backlit comb closes the transparent light guide through which the RGB lighting breaks through. The backlight synchronizes seamlessly with other RGB components and supports all popular synchronization systems including Asus Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Lights, etc. It is important to note that the height of both modules exceeds 4 cm - this should be taken into account if a large air cooler or dropsy is installed in the system.

Model overview based on user reviews
The G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 2x16Gb is a popular choice for users seeking high-performance memory with a visually appealing design. It offers a large volume and potential for upgrade to 64GB, making it suitable for demanding applications. Users have noted that while it is often listed as Samsung B-die, it may actually contain Hynix chips, which can affect overclocking potential. Performance is generally stable at 3600MHz, though some users have experienced issues reaching higher advertised speeds, particularly with certain setups. Despite this, many find the memory to work well with Ryzen processors, providing good results in latency and performance tests. However, those seeking significant overclocking capabilities might need to consider other options. Overall, it is a reliable choice for those prioritizing stability and aesthetics.

great model, love it

I purchased this item. I'll say right away, I was fully aware that it contains Hynix chips. On a motherboard from gigabyte z490 gaming x ax and a 10700k processor, it started right up at cl18 22 22 42 1.4v at 4000MHz. However, in OCCT AVX2 tests, it started throwing errors after a while. After 2 hours of various combinations, I concluded that the optimal settings in my case are: cl 17 21 21 40 at 3800 trfc 734 trefi 44000 1.42v. In this case, the memory shows good results in latency and performance tests. The work is stable. Overall, I give it a thumbs up. I bought it in Germany for 13k.
Good memory despite being hynix

I do not recommend these modules for those who want a decent overclock.

I bought these for a build with the X570 AORUS ELITE and a Ryzen 5800x, hoping for an XMP profile at 4000 out of the box, but to my horror, these modules wouldn't start. Manually, with native timings 16-16-16-36, they only started at a frequency of 3600. Tweaking and increasing socket and DRAM voltage, along with increasing timings, only managed to get them to 3666. Beyond that, the modules refuse to work, no matter what I do. I highly do not recommend this model and will be switching to something more reasonable.
I bought it for 4000 MHz, but in reality, it maxes out at a reasonable 3600, so I don't see any advantages.
Disappointed by non-working frequencies

A good choice

Those who will buy this memory (especially for the purpose of overclocking) should know: this is not a Samsung B-die, despite the information on the Internet (although it is possible with chips just a lottery). I got caught with Hynix D-die. For my purposes, 32GB at 3600 is a perfectly acceptable option. I wasn't going to drive her initially, so I'm not really worried.
Good memory for Ryzen, large volume, there is room for an upgrade to 64GB
Listed as Samsung B-die on B-Die Finder, but this is a hoax.
