A compact camera in the spirit of the Canon EOS M family of mirrorless cameras. In fact, the model was released as a continuation of this series of mirrorless cameras from Canon. An APS-C format image sensor with a resolution of 24.2 MP is installed inside it. The camera is powered by the DIGIC X image processing processor. In burst photography mode with a mechanical shutter, the model can shoot at up to 12 fps, and with an electronic shutter - up to 15 fps.

Video on a mirrorless camera is recorded in a maximum resolution of 4K (2840x2160 pixels) at 30 fps, while oversampling from 6K occurs. In Full HD format, the frame rate can be increased to 60 fps or even 120 fps (in the latter case, without sound). The Canon EOS R50 kit 18-45 is equipped with an advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II automatic focusing system with object recognition in the frame based on artificial intelligence algorithms.

The model has an OLED viewfinder with 100% coverage of the frame field and a 2.95-inch touch screen mounted on a rotating hinge. When viewing through the viewfinder window on a full battery charge, the camera is capable of taking about 310 photographs, and when constructing a frame based on data from the screen, over 440 photographs. The mirrorless camera comes standard with a stabilized Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM zoom lens. We also note that there is no built-in stub on board the camera.
