Ice performance in the Winter WildernessGet the water out, and get a grip on ice.The Geolandar I/T-S G073, made with triple water-absorbent rubber, instantly absorbs water from icy surfaces.'Micro Hydraplaning' on Icy RoadsThe layer of water above the ice is the biggest contributor to loss of traction in winter conditions. This layer of water cause... mores 'micro hydraplaning' on icy surfaces. A traditional rubber rides on the layer of water because the thickness of the layer of water in the -6°C to 0°C zone becomes more than 10um and undulation of the tyre surface is about 4-7um.Removing the Water with powerful 'absorbent rubber'YOKOHAMA's original compound technology incorporates water-absorbing compounds, putting the tyre in contact with the actual ice.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Yokohama Geolandar I/T-S G073 tires have received positive feedback for their performance in winter conditions. Users appreciate their excellent handling on wet roads and snow, noting that they are quiet and soft. They perform well at temperatures close to zero and remain predictable on packed snow. However, they are not ideal for ice due to the absence of studs, which is a common issue with non-studded tires. The tires are praised for their durability and strong road grip in various weather conditions, though some users mention a low speed index and poor braking on wet asphalt. Overall, they are considered a great choice for city driving, offering a balance of quality and price, but require cautious driving on ice.

A good winter tire, but don't expect any miracles or super abilities from it.
12 March 2021
The first winter has passed. Size 215/65R16. Vehicle with a total mass of 2770 kg, rear-wheel drive, automatic. Right after switching from the summer Bridgestone Dueler Sport, it felt a bit stiff, but on the second day, I found it to be softer. There's talk that it's noiseless, but I can't agree with that. If you drive 30-50 km/h, there's no noise. From my observations, there's significant noise at 60-80 km/h. But at 120 km/h there's less noise, I haven't gone faster. Probably the noise comes with the aggressive tread pattern. Braking increases noise. But that's what I wanted. The noise isn't bothersome. On asphalt at temperatures above freezing, especially on wet surfaces, traction isn't great. ABS often kicks in, and the car skids. Probably this is a downside of all Arctic-type tires. On snow, including packed snow, it's excellent. On ice, it's acceptable. Keep in mind that with no tire will you have the same traction as on summer asphalt. You need to switch your mindset to winter mode. Nonetheless, on ice, these tires are better than my experience with studded Cordiant Snow Cross, especially when after four years, studs were only 25%. On ice, studs didn't help, they cut grooves and didn't hold. Maybe because the Cordiant brand isn't very good. In any case, I didn't encounter any unexpected unpleasant surprises. I got what I expected. The sidewall is very soft, so you need to drive carefully, watching the mirrors for curbs. The Arctic-type tire is best at temperatures of -10°C and colder. Our winters are unpredictable. It can be +15°C or -25°C in January. Snowfall varies greatly. 90% of the time, I have to drive on asphalt.
Country of origin Japan. Aggressive and stunning exterior. Proud Yokohama inscription. Good winter capabilities.
Poor braking on asphalt, especially on wet surfaces around 0 temperatures. You have to keep this in mind. But this is not a complaint specifically about this tire. In such conditions, it's better to drive on Euro winter tires. However, our climate alternates throughout the winter from Euro to Arctic conditions. (Western Ukraine)

There is practically nothing to say about the tires other than words of praise. In severe frosts, the tires behave perfectly, do not become dull, and handling is always at the level. I drive calmly and smoothly, both on clean asphalt and on packed snow.
does not stall, the car drives normally

The tires are mostly suitable for the city. Of course, it also copes with off-road conditions, but it rides best on an asphalt city road.
Copes well with snow and wet roads, quiet, soft
Didn't notice any drawbacks.
