HC500 series of helium-filled hard drives.
A high-capacity, high-capacity (16 TB) enterprise-class internal (embedded) server hard drive from the WD Ultrastar DC HC550 line of 3.5" HDD drives, which includes 16 and 18 TB models. These devices represent high-quality server drives, design and the firmware of which is optimized for solving problems of long-term storage of information in disk arrays with a large number of HDDs (for example, in enterprise-level servers or data centers).
Important features of the model include the layout and use of advanced magnetic recording technology with Energy-Assisted Magnetic Recording. (EAMR), which has significantly increased the data density. The sealed zone of the WD Ultrastar DC HC550 WUH721816AL5204 hard drive, filled with helium, has reliable protection against leaks. It contains nine plates rotating at a speed of 7200 rpm. Thanks to this high-speed equipment. controller and a large cache memory of 512 MB, the drive demonstrates high performance, excellent reliability and moderate power consumption. The SAS server interface is used for connection, so this model cannot be installed in regular PCs and entry-level workstations. With proper cooling, it can be operated 24/7.

- Quite capacious enough to cram your entire life in photos onto one hard drive))) - Good write/read speed: 250 Mbps - Huge buffer, 512 MB - When connected, it showed 18,000,189,054,976 bytes - The writing method is ePMR, which I consider the best - I got the WUH721818ALE6L4 model, had no issues, just connected the power and SATA cable, PC recognized it without trouble - Helium inside the case is a big plus - HDD temperature without load is 42 degrees at a room temperature of 26 - Average speed, for example, is closer to the spindle around 120 Mbps - Output in OS Windows (binary system) will show you that the disk is 16.3 TB - With GPT, NTFS, the hard drive will occupy 6.37 GB just to partition the disk without your permission)))) - The noise is just horrible as if a plane is constantly flying (it's really annoying) forget about silence. I have AeroCool Flo Saturn case, two hard drives touch each other, resonate, and increase the noise, or maybe it's just the model I got... - Every 5-10 seconds during access, there's an unpleasant loud knock, clearly exceeding the "Noise level during operation 36 dBA", it's like someone constantly knocks on your apartment door, and you open it, but no one is there), on the internet they say it's normal, but believe me, I'm shocked by this hard drive, it's irritating... when your PC case near your feet is constantly knocking... it doesn't affect work... You'll have to get used to the periodic knocking), I bought it on 18.11.2021 for 33,299 ₽ with a discount...
The hum of the disk can be resolved by placing a sponge underneath without fastening it to the case. If you attach it to the case, and mine is made of foil, then Mozart's melodies become second-rate))), yet silence is gone((( since the periodic knocking is like having a woodpecker settled in your system unit!
The program "Victoria 5.23" showed that 6 blocks take 1 second for access, and 46 blocks take 250 milliseconds, a slight acceptable defect)
