Judging by the fact that they couldn't install the same model of hard drive on my machine, the problem is with the manufacturer. Crap, what a headache! Didn't have time to feel it... Maybe it's a large volume? I saved up for a laptop because of the large disk capacity. It worked for half a day, then started "acting slow" (the laptop, not me), and later the hard drive stopped being recognized altogether. I took it to a service center—they struggled with it for 3 weeks and returned it with a different model. |
apparently, the pursuit of WD prey speed, silence worked for 3 months |
Bought it in February this year after the built-in HDD on my laptop died due to viruses. Not even a month later, it died too—won't be recognized at all. The laptop seems to try to see it, but nothing works in the end. Testing it on another computer ended the same way. Anyway, sent it in for repair, and instead of the one month promised in the warranty, they took ONE AND A HALF months to replace it with a new one, with a new warranty. Everything seemed fine, but... not even a month later, the new HDD failed :( Same issue again—can't be recognized anywhere, another one and a half month repair again, long waiting. Finally got it back, another new one, new warranty, four weeks later and... well, you guessed it... same thing all over again. Day after tomorrow, I'm buying a new brand, returning this one under warranty, and the returned new one will probably be [censored]. I advise other buyers to avoid this model, given the decent selection available now, as it's unlikely I got THREE FAULTY HDDs in a row. Quiet, spacious, hardly gets hot The buffer is a bit small, but I'll describe the most interesting part below. |
