Model overview based on user reviews
The WD Gold Gold hard drive series is known for its fast performance and reliability, making it suitable for both server and home PC use. Users appreciate its ability to handle simultaneous requests and data processing efficiently. However, a common concern is the noise level, with some models producing a noticeable rattle during operation and startup. Additionally, the drives tend to generate significant heat, necessitating proper airflow and cooling solutions. Despite these drawbacks, the drive's price, warranty period, and storage capacity are seen as valuable features, especially for those using it for backups or isolated server environments. Overall, it is a dependable choice if noise and heat management are addressed.
Pros
Cons
Feedback on the WD8004FRYZ version in 8TB. I got this disk purely for backups, so since the purchase, it has spent 99% of its time sitting on a shelf. I want to mention the fairly loud noise both during idle and in the read/write process. But for a disk with such volume and spindle speed, this is quite an acceptable phenomenon. I also want to highlight the heat, it's quite significant here. After a two-hour write process, the disk heated up to 58 degrees (critical temperature is 60), so air cooling is absolutely necessary for this disk! The speed roughly matches the stated one. price, warranty period, volume noise, strong heating, obligatory air blowing is necessary |
6GB was not enough for ten budgets. I took it as a file dump. Quickly responds to simultaneous requests and data processing. I didn’t measure the temperature; the basket with screws is blown by three 120 Noctua coolers. It makes quite a lot of noise, unlike black or nas. Noise in idle mode and a rather sharp rattle when working with data. fast noisy use WD WD6002FRYZ month or more |
Bought the 2 TB model in 2018 for a home PC. Absolutely satisfied with everything. Works fast Quiet (most of the time) Reliable (in 3 years of active use, rewrite cycles, etc., not a single failure) Makes a cracking/rattling sound when starting the computer, but stops after a couple of minutes. It was a little scary at first) |
