Model overview based on user reviews
The Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 ED Pro M.Zuiko Digital lens is a versatile option for photographers using Olympus and Panasonic systems, featuring a constant aperture of f/2.8 and a focal length range of 12-40mm. It offers a wide viewing angle of 84°-30° and a minimum focus distance of 0.2 meters. While it lacks image stabilization, it includes internal focus and a stepper motor for autofocus. The lens is constructed with 14 elements in 9 groups and has a filter diameter of 62 mm. Weighing 382 grams, it is compact with dimensions of 70x84 mm. A user review highlights that while the lens performs well, it is slightly outperformed by the Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 lens, especially considering the latter's built-in stabilizer. The Olympus lens is noted to be more expensive in Ukraine compared to its Panasonic counterpart, despite being cheaper globally. This price discrepancy is a significant consideration for potential buyers.
Pros
Cons
As I said above, the stated price is inadequate. All over the world, 12-40 is sold cheaper than the alternative Panasonic 12-35/2.8 - with a difference of $100-200, which is quite natural, because with approximate optical equality between the plovers and the Panasonic, the latter has a built-in stabilizer. But here we don’t have the whole world or even Europe, so the price has its own - special. Despite everything, plover is sold for 2000 UAH. More expensive than the Panasonic analogue. On the DxO website, you can check the IQ and compare it with the Panasonic 12-35/2.8 lens, the latter is just slightly better in all parameters. Both are average if you compare them with prime lenses. The price of this lens in Ukraine. |
