Carpentry Cordless Chainsaw

The Makita DUC355Z saw is, of course, not intended for logging (that's what gasoline chainsaws are for). Its element is construction work and garden maintenance. Thanks to the brushless motor, it offers high performance for medium-complexity tasks such as cutting planks and beams, sawing logs, or trimming live and dry branches from trees. The high chain speed (up to 20 m/s) ensures a clean cut, which is especially important in carpentry work requiring precision and accuracy (for example, fitting parts of prefabricated wooden structures).

Versatility and Interchangeability

The saw operates on two 18-volt batteries. With 6 Ah batteries, it can make up to 250 crosscuts on timber of 50x100 mm dimensions. The LXT series batteries are widely available and are likely to be part of any builder's or individual craftsman's toolkit using Makita cordless tools. Batteries are not included in the set and are purchased separately. The saw is equipped with a 350 mm bar, but bars of different sizes (from 300 to 400 mm) can be installed.

Optimal Choice for Builders

The Makita DUC355Z saw is somewhat pricey, and there's no point in purchasing it for home use. However, for professional roofers and builders of frame houses, it is arguably the best option. It should also be considered as a "partner" for your main power saw, capable of replacing its corded "colleague" when working in the field or in hard-to-reach places.
