Model from the family of high-performance consumer SSDs HP EX950, 2020 version with M.2 connector, supporting PCI-E Gen3 x4 interface (NVMe 1.4 protocol), a full DDR3 DRAM cache, TLC memory, and impressive endurance. The drive is in a caseless 2280 form factor and has a double-sided chip layout. It can be installed in a wide range of devices with an M.2 Key M slot, including motherboards for Intel and AMD CPUs, powerful and gaming laptops, all-in-ones, and miniPCs.

When mounted in a separate M.2 NVMe SSD box with an external USB 3.2 Gen2x2 or Thunderbolt interface, it can function as a high-speed drive for fast backups. A thin heat spreader plate reduces the SSD HP EX950 5MS23AA temperature, preventing throttling under peak loads; however, more efficient cooling is recommended for long continuous large data recordings. This model is based on a combination of a high-performance dual-core 8-channel Silicon Motion SM2262EN controller and 64-layer 3D TLC memory from Micron. The proprietary NANDXtend technology extends memory lifespan and improves data retention during long-term storage. The large SLC cache allows maintaining high write speeds under typical user loads: file copying, game installation, and working with photo/video files. Performance degradation is noticeable only with continuous recording exceeding 170 GB of data.
