Top flagship from Honor without reservations
At the end of April, the Huawei Honor sub-brand introduced a new flagship line of Honor 30 smartphones. It includes three models — the base Honor 30, the average Honor 30 Pro and the top-end Honor 30 Pro Plus. The last handsome man interested us the most. The main feature of the top model Honor 30 Pro Plus is the main camera with a triple module, where the top Sony IMX700 sensor is used as the basis, and the 8 MP telephoto camera supports OIS and PDAF. Specialists from DxOMark have already got to it and rated the photo capabilities of the new Honor at 136 points, and the video quality at 104 points. The overall result was 125 points. Thus, the smartphone is in second place after Huawei P40 Pro, which has 128 points. Yes, these ratings are controversial and many of them cause skepticism, but nothing better has come up yet. In addition, the results are never surprising, because the Honor 30 Pro Plus is based on the same bundle of Ultra Vision modules that was used in the Huawei P40 Pro. Honor 30 Pro Plus lost only a special “video” camera, instead receiving a standard wide-angle module.
This is definitely not Huawei P40 Pro?
Externally, the Honor 30 Pro + also echoes the Huawei P40 Pro — a similar curved screen with a cutout for a double front camera on the left, similar shades and body sizes. Unless the frames are a little wider, the camera module looks a little different. At the heart of the handset is the well-known Kirin 990 chip, which we have already seen in previous Huawei flagships. The rest of the hardware is also on the level: 8 GB of RAM (there are options for 12 GB), an ARM Mali-G76 MP16 graphics card, 256 GB storage, plus a slot for Nano Memory cards, which you can still find. In general, this is an absolutely top-end feature that meets all the requirements of 2020.
Impressive functionality
Everything else is not far behind. The smartphone received a 6.57-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels, with support for an image refresh rate of 90 Hz, a touch layer response rate of 180 Hz and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the display. Among the other features of the smartphone, the presence of a very fast 45-watt charging and fast 25-watt wireless charging, a Wi-Fi 6 module, stereo speakers, an infrared port for controlling home appliances, a case with serious water protection (IP68) and an unusual frontal camera for 2 module.
Is the game worth the candle?
All this allows us to say that in fact we have the same Huawei P40 Pro, but with a slightly simplified camera, design and a price tag one and a half times lower. And without Google services. Huawei is now actively developing its app store, and almost every week alternatives to maps, email services and organizers from Google appear there, but all this is dancing with a tambourine. The question is, are you ready to dance for actually the same Huawei P40 Pro, but at a discount?
