Iron, steam generator or steamer: what to choose?Let's figure out the differences between regular irons, irons with a steam generator and steamers, what are their pros and cons

How to choose iron: useful tipsWe understand what types of irons exist, which sole is better and what features to look for before buying
Model overview based on user reviews
The Gorenje SIH 2200PS is a budget-friendly iron that offers a decent performance, resembling more expensive models in appearance. It features a long two-meter cable and a powerful steam boost, making it suitable for both regular and vertical steaming. Users appreciate its automatic shut-off function, a rare find in budget models, which enhances safety by turning off the iron when not in use. However, it requires distilled or demineralized water to prevent lime deposits, which can be costly. While it performs well within the warranty period, some users have reported it breaking down shortly after the warranty expires. Overall, it is a pleasant to use iron with a two-year warranty, ideal for those seeking an affordable option without compromising on essential features.
Pros
Cons
Expensive irons with super soleplates and a lot of different bells and whistles have occupied the real shelves of retail stores and the virtual shelves of online stores. Looking at the price tags, you might think that they can iron on their own, without human intervention)) But what should poor students do who study, earn extra money, but still categorically do not have enough money, because the one-room apartment in which we live is rented and the rent is constantly growing? In general, there was not much money for an iron that needed to be urgently bought to replace the previous one that suddenly died - six hundred hryvnia. I did not even think that I would be able to buy something decent, but I was pleasantly surprised. And among inexpensive irons, it turns out, there are decent models. In appearance, it resembles a Philips iron, which my parents have had for about five years, that is, it looks decent and is not at all budget. It has a long two-meter electric cable, which is enough for almost half the room (I'm kidding, of course). The steam supply is regulated by a slider at the top of the handle, there are also two buttons (for spraying water from the spout and a steam blast). The minimum steam is set so well that we do not turn it off at all. It seems like there is not much, but ironing with it is still much easier than dry. At maximum, it is like a full-fledged steam cleaner. The steam blast is powerful and we use it only for vertical steaming. The iron itself is quite light and even if you fill it with water, the weight is up to one and a half kilograms. You need distilled water (expensive) or demineralized water (much cheaper) for it; it’s not advisable to use tap water. White spots from lime deposits may appear on dark clothing. The water sprayer dispenses "like a drop in the bucket," meaning very small portions. |
This iron features a very useful "automatic shut-off" function, which is quite relevant nowadays. If the iron is not moving, it will simply turn off after a certain period, indicated by the blinking of the light indicator (located on the handle)... This useful function is very rarely found in budget models... cheap and cheerful not yet |
Disposable, died a week after the warranty expired, started to turn off immediately after switching on Within the warranty period it was ok, but then it broke right away Breaks down immediately after warranty use Gorenje SIH 2200PS month or more i recommend it don't buy |
