Well, let me tell you about this marvel of engineering. I had the previous TF model when I was using LGA1200 with an i7 10700. It worked great (though I'm not a fan of overclocking, just regular mode). After switching to 1700, I got the exact same one, just TF2, and once again, everything is fine. This blower is cooling an i5 14600k. My setup is an ASUS TUF B760 Gaming Pro WiFi + Corsair 6000 DDR5 32GB + RTX 5070. Power supply unit: ASUS TUF 850 Gold. Initially, I installed an i5 14400f because, although the cooler's TDP is rated at 230 watts, the reviews on cooling an i5 14600k online are mixed, but I took the risk. I don't need overclocking, just turbo boost, and I chose it because of the base 3.5 GHz. My worries were unfounded; it performs well, and importantly—it's quiet, even though the maximum fan speed is low, it's compensated by the 135mm, not 120mm fans. I work in Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere. I only play sim racing games at max settings, and often with games I also use OBS Studio. I've never seen the CPU temperature go above 85. Yes, the case should be spacious and well-ventilated. I have all this packed in a Cooler Master HAF700 Berserker White. So, the conclusion for me is that the cooler is time-tested, just like the previous model for those sockets, and the TF2 for the modern ones. The main reason I chose this TOPFLOW modification is because I don't like liquid coolers, and I didn't choose a tower because this one is shorter, offering more compatibility with different cases, and most importantly, it not only cools the CPU but also everything around it: SSD, VRM, and RAM. Compact compared to towers, TDP 230W, model Topflor, blows on the motherboard and everything nearby, quiet because of 135mm blades. thanks to the high bitrate, I haven't found and don't want to look for any drawbacks; it has met my stated requirements for more than one year. |
upside down tower
be quiet! Dark Rock TF 2 is an air supercooler (this term is used for models with a heat sink over 200 W) of a rare Top-Flow format or, as it is jokingly called, a “sandwich”. The advantage of such solutions is not only a lower height than classic towers, but also additional airflow to the motherboard power subsystem.
Metal and ceramics
The radiator consists of two arrays of aluminium fins, larger on top, smaller on the bottom, united by six copper heat pipes. The black coating paint includes ceramic particles for better heat dissipation. Only the plate in contact with the processor is unpainted — it is polished to a mirror finish.
double airflow
The heatsink is blown by a pair of 135mm be quiet! Silent Wings 3 on a durable hydrodynamic bearing. At 50 percent rpm, the noise does not exceed 20 dB. The height of the entire structure is 13.5 cm, which is about a quarter lower than a typical tower. This is especially true in cases with a vertical arrangement of the graphics card, as well as when assembling Mini-ITX computers.
Equipment features
All current Intel and AMD processor sockets are supported. Unless at first, the kit may not include a mount for the brand new LGA 1700, but you can request it for free on the be quiet! official website. Over time, Dark Rock TF 2, like other coolers and CBO be quiet!, will come with this mount by default.
