Model overview based on user reviews
The Asus ROG Strix Gold power supply series offers a range of wattages, including 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W, and 1000W, catering to various power needs. Users appreciate its attractive design and universal PCI and CPU connectors, making it a versatile choice. The 1000W model is praised for its quiet operation and ability to support high-performance components like the 5900x and 6900xt. However, some users have reported issues with fan noise, particularly with the 850W model, which was deemed normal by Asus, leading to dissatisfaction. Overall, the series is well-regarded for its performance, though potential buyers should be aware of the noise concerns.
Pros
Cons
I've been using it for over a year and don't have any major complaints. It's not noisy, and I haven't noticed any issues. It supports a higher amperage compared to 750w and 850w. I got it for the 5900x and 6900xt. Appearance, simplicity, universal PCI and CPU connectors. Decent package. The block is intended for the lower placement in the case. There is no Node connector. The 0 db button is pointless if the PC is not placed on the desk. |
I bought this power supply, installed it without expecting any issues, because it supposedly had Seasonic inside. Then I wondered what the noise in my room was. I checked, and it was the fan making a noise similar to a cricket. It could be heard throughout the room, especially at night. My computer is in the bedroom, and I prioritize a quiet computer. And this one is blatantly noisy. I returned it to the store, purchased it at Telemart, but they refused to exchange it. They sent it for inspection to Asus. Asus held onto the power supply for about two weeks and concluded that the noise was normal and not loud. They said I had imagined the noise. Great purchase, money down the drain. Link to the Google Drive recording is attached. If this is the normal operation of a power supply, then it's not for everyone, and what a wonderful company Asus is. https://drive.google.com/file/d/122EZ0Q1IdZrI Looks beautiful Noisy fan. |
