Model overview based on user reviews
The Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-53 is a gaming laptop that offers strong performance and a decent SSD, making it suitable for both gaming and work tasks. However, users have noted several drawbacks. The keyboard quality is subpar, requiring extra effort to press keys, which can be frustrating. The screen has issues with color reproduction and backlight bleeding, affecting the visual experience. Additionally, the cooling system, while effective, is extremely noisy under load, likened to the sound of an airplane engine. Despite these issues, the laptop performs well with games like Cyberpunk and Valhalla at high settings, though it struggles with maintaining high FPS in demanding games, even with an RTX 3080. Overall, while it provides good performance for its price, the screen and noise issues may be significant drawbacks for some users.
Pros
Cons
I have a model with 10750 and 3060, and it works perfectly on high Full HD settings for games like Cyberpunk and Valhalla (I turned off the turbo boost, and the temperature averages around 70 degrees during prolonged use). As for Vlad's review, I can say that either your laptop is "overheating" and that's why it's lagging, or it needs cleaning. And buying with a 3080 in a laptop... Think about what kind of cooling they'll make and how they'll "trim" it, 3070 is the limit. It would be better to build a PC for that money and not whine about 30 FPS. Performance and cooling are normal (without turbo boost, that's in the summer and without a stand) A slight glow in the corner (a common issue with all IPS displays), and the build quality isn't great; the screen lid could have been made of metal, as the plastic creaks when opening and closing as if it's about to break. We'll see. |
since it's difficult to buy a regular laptop not for gaming but just as a fast working machine, this laptop was chosen for work, so the evaluation will be specific. I have a 2060 graphics card, maybe this will be useful for someone. productive and decent SSD that doesn't need to be replaced immediately, overall the laptop is okay but I'll describe the flaws below, there aren't many but they could have been fixed for the money. keyboard - it's frankly bad, not all keys work properly with a little effort, you need to press hard and often it doesn't work the first time, it's really annoying, and it would be nice if it was a bit quieter especially since it's used in browser mode, often with YouTube etc. |
My review of the top version (i7 10870H, RTX3080). I think the part about the screen will be relevant for everyone. It's not worth it. At all. Acer was extremely disappointing. And it's not even so much about the crappy performance and noise, but the screen. After all, the screen is what we look at every day, it forms a big part of the gaming experience. And here... well, you set your ultras.. but you just won't see them) There's a desire to break off this screen, take it to the factory, and ask for the money back. And instead, buy a stationary monitor, even if it's only 75 Hertz, but with a decent panel. More details below. Pleasant keyboard, overall the laptop design is not quite an eyesore (as is common in gaming laptops) Screen: - Color reproduction. The color reproduction is terrible. Objectively terrible. - Backlight bleeding. The backlighting is just something! The entire screen is a circle - one giant backlight bleed. On all colors close to black, you will see them. I'll attach a couple of photos. To give you an idea - in the photos, the screen is filled with pure black, and everything you see is the backlight bleed). Cooling: - Have you ever stood next to an airplane with the engines running? No exaggeration! Under load, the noise is such that you want to take the laptop out on the balcony and close the door (I always thought while reading similar comments about noise, what's the nonsense, well, it hums and hums. No, ladies and gentlemen! Here, it's taken to the extreme). But to be fair - it's not quite objective to complain about this, considering the installed hardware. Performance: Want honest FPS from a real user? I don’t consider games 2-3 years old. Everyone is interested in the question - so how’s the FPS in Cyberpunk?? And there, it's very bad! Settings: - Graphics preset "ultra"; - Full ray tracing, quality "Impressive" (right below max); - DLLS turned off (it really blurs the picture); - Resolution (ATTENTION!) 1920*1080 (Not 4k not 2k, but a miserable FullHD!). We get an average FPS: 35!!!! 35 FPS in FullHD on a laptop with RTX 3080 for 220k rubles, Carl! And here's what you need to get at least 60-70 FPS in FullHD: - High graphics preset - No ray tracing - dlss can add 10-15 frames at the expense of blurring (in 1080p it doesn’t give more). In fact, it's not even up to a desktop 3060 in power. |
