Model overview based on user reviews
The Yamaha WXA-50 Hi-Fi Receiver is praised for its compact dimensions and intuitive controls, making it an ideal choice for limited spaces like a writing desk. Users appreciate its excellent sound quality and the convenience of network connectivity, including support for various streaming services such as Spotify and TIDAL. The device features an optical input and a straightforward volume knob, enhancing user-friendliness. However, some users note that it heats up significantly during use and that the bass and treble adjustments are limited to a 6 dB increase, which could be more flexible. Additionally, the receiver does not wake from sleep mode via OPTICAL or AUX signals, only through Bluetooth, and adjusting audio settings requires a smartphone. Despite these drawbacks, the model's functionality and compactness are highly valued, although some find the price to be on the higher side.
Pros

Cons

There is no other easily digestible option for a writing desk.

The main advantage is its compact size. Excellent sound quality. Network connectivity with the device. Optical input. There's only one volume knob on the front panel, which is intuitive for the wife.
1. Compact dimensions.
2. Intuitive controls.
3. The menu from under Windows or iOS has many settings.
1. Heats up significantly on idle (without playing music) to about 35 degrees, and in playback mode reaches 50 degrees; the built-in cooler automatically turns on when overheated.
2. When switching to sleep mode, it doesn't wake up when a signal is received from OPTICAL or AUX, only from Bluetooth.
3. To adjust the treble or bass, you need to use a smartphone.
4. Bass and treble can only be increased by 6 Db, it would be preferable if it could go up to 10.
