How to choose a power supply for a PCBasics of choosing a reliable and balanced power supply for your home, office and gaming computer
Model overview based on user reviews
The Thermaltake Litepower 2 series offers a range of power supply units, including the 450W and 550W models, which are generally appreciated for their quiet operation and good price/quality ratio. Users have noted the presence of essential protections like SCP, OVP, and OCP, although the lack of an 80 Plus certification is mentioned but not deemed critical. The 550W model is praised for delivering promised power with minimal voltage deviation and ripple, achieving an efficiency of 85%. However, concerns about the quality of internal components have been raised, with one user experiencing a short circuit that damaged other components. Overall, the Thermaltake Litepower 2 is considered a decent choice for non-demanding builds, but caution is advised regarding its reliability in more critical setups.

I recommend this power supply for non-eating, possibly gaming builds. You can't hear it from the system at all, excellent price/quality ratio.
Includes SCP, OVP, OCP protection. Quiet.
Lack of an 80 plus certificate for such a price, but not critical, since all the standards appropriate for a normal PSU are present. Not all cables are sleeved.
