We bought this for grandma as a New Year's gift because she loves baking, but kneading by hand isn't so easy for her anymore. She really liked the mixer. It's of average weight—not a feather, but not heavy either—comfortable to hold in hand. The speed switching is quick, soft, and smooth, without jerks (which she really appreciated). The turbo mode, in my opinion, is just like switching to the 5th speed, but it's also smooth without any jolting. When there's a load on the whisk (like kneading dough), it starts to growl a bit, but the speed doesn't drop. It handles everything else without problems. The power is actually sufficient; there's no feeling that more is needed.
