The electromechanical sewing machine is more suitable for learning, clothing repair, and sewing simple items. It allows you to work with different types of fabrics, but might not handle very dense ones. The model offers a small variety of stitch types—only 7, including straight with needle positioning in the center or edge, blind hem, decorative (shell and crescent) and zigzag. A convenient rotary dial with clear markings is used for switching. The buttonhole is made in a semi-automatic mode with four switches and without turning the fabric. Available features include adjustable presser foot pressure for optimal results on both light and heavy fabrics and stitch length adjustment (up to 4 mm), while the width can only be adjusted on the zigzag stitch. The height of the presse...r foot is also adjustable, but only up to 9 mm, which might be insufficient when sewing buttons on thick materials. The Singer 8280 features a reliable metal frame, a simple yet sturdy oscillating shuttle, a reverse function for sewing in different directions, and an arm platform useful for working with narrow parts of garments such as sleeves. Additionally, for user convenience, there is a special thread cutter eliminating the need for scissors and built-in lighting. Accessories include several presser feet (universal, for sewing zippers, and for attaching buttons), needles, bobbins, a darning plate, a guide for topstitching, spool clamps, among others.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Singer 8280 sewing machine is a popular choice for home and amateur use, praised for its affordability and essential features. Users appreciate its ability to handle various fabrics, from bed linen to jeans, and its lightweight, portable design. The machine offers even stitches without skipping and easy-to-use functions, making it suitable for beginners. However, some users have noted that it can be a bit noisy, and the lack of an automatic needle threader is a minor inconvenience. Despite these drawbacks, many find it reliable for basic sewing tasks. While a few users experienced issues with noise and durability, others have successfully used it for years, highlighting its value for money. Overall, the Singer 8280 is considered a good entry-level sewing machine for those looking to start sewing at home.

for home amateur use - just right!
7 February 2015
Hi. I can only say all the best, as if I were just an amateur. Pleasant appearance, not very heavy, the stitches are even, it doesn’t skip stitches, the thread doesn’t break. Especially after my mother’s Podolsk one, which God knows what year it was made and weighs half a ton. By the way, I bought it through an online store (Kazan) for only 4600, including delivery to the entrance. In short, this is generally a holiday. Much cheaper than other sites.
Sewing bed linen, folding jeans and doing all sorts of nice little things yourself using this machine is just the thing!
I don't know any of them yet. Oh, I know, there is no overlog. On the other hand, for such a price it’s also an overlog!
