High-quality synthetics with excellent cleaning properties and omnivorous to any type of powertrain. The oil is to be used in gasoline, diesel and gas engines, as well as in engines running on ethanol mixtures. Shell Helix Ultra 5W-30 4L is manufactured using PurePlus proprietary technology by obtaining a pure synthetic base from natural gas. The correct formulation of the mixture is formed by Active Cleansing additives — according to the oil manufacturer, they help to keep the internal components of the engine of the machine in a state “like from the assembly line”.
The product has a stable viscosity, is practically not spent on carbon deposits, and forms a strong lubricating film on engine parts. The oil has approvals from leading European automakers (MB, VAG, BMW, Renault) and is even poured into the power units of Ferrari racing cars. Product viscosity according to SAE — 5W30. The most common form of engine oil release for ordinary car owners is a four-liter canister with a 16-digit or QR code on the cap for authentication.

After finding out that Shell supplies original oil to VW factories, I started considering their oil and, based on the specs for my engine, settled on this motor oil. I've driven a bit over 4,000 km with it now, and everything is fine. The oil level hasn't dropped, whereas previously, with a different 5W-30 oil, the engine would consume a bit. Here, the level remains consistent. Switched from a cheaper oil to this one because with the previous oil, I noticed some deposits starting to appear in the engine. This oil was recommended as better and it also has an additive package that is supposed to clean up what is there. I've driven about 3000 km on it now, and it seems like the engine looks cleaner. I used to use HX6, but I changed the car and here, according to the tolerances, it is already necessary to fill in either ultra or hx8. I stopped at Ultra because I wanted to try oil on gas, aka GTL. It's hard to say yet, because I don't use it much, but it seems that the engine runs quieter on it, so I'll keep an eye on it.
