Model overview based on user reviews
The Samsung SpinPoint F4 is praised for its good price-to-quality ratio and impressive performance, especially for a drive with a 7200 RPM speed. Users appreciate its large capacity options, up to 2 TB, and its energy efficiency. It operates at a low temperature, which is beneficial for long-term use. However, some users note that it may slow down over time and that it requires special formatting for optimal performance on Windows XP due to its advanced format technology. While it is recommended for capacities up to 1 TB for stability, the drive is considered a reliable choice for home file storage.
Pros
Cons
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the hard drive. Samsung managed to create a drive with reduced rotation speed while maintaining high data transfer speed. This means there will be less parasitic vibrations and heating of the device itself. This is written purely and not for advertising purposes. Good product at a good price. I read reviews saying it's not slower than other models with 7200 RPM speed. It turned out to be true. Compared to another drive with Windows installed on it, this one is not lagging behind at all. It's also great that this model doesn't heat up, just a bit over 30 degrees. It's just fantastic considering it has 2 TB of space, and consequently more disks themselves. Due to the new advanced format technology, this disk works very slowly on Windows XP. For this operating system, it needs to be formatted with a special program, which I didn't find on Samsung's website. There's a similar one from WD, I forgot the name. |
Everything I wanted to say I've already written in the pros section, but I do want to note that it's not worth buying a hard drive with a capacity above 1 TB. I have a 500 GB one that's been working without failures for over 2 years... Additionally, hard drives over 1 TB are made on the principle of less stability, but more volume!!!! They make those over 2 TB by increasing the hard drive itself) The price is ridiculous for the quality you get! 1. Huge capacity up to 2 TB, though mine is less than 500 GB) 2. Good speed of 7200 RPM - on average, normal speed for copying, cutting, etc. 3. Buffer from 16 MB. Perfect for almost any programs, especially for OS 4. Non-compact size!!! This is a huge advantage, as the smaller the hard drive, the more reliable it is. And the smaller the hard drive, the smaller the differentiation cell between 1 and zero, which means it is greatly reduced. 5. Energy-efficient Probably over time, it doesn't stay as fast as it was at the beginning - this is from personal experience! use Samsung SpinPoint F4 more than year i recommend it should buy |
