How to choose a power supply for a PCBasics of choosing a reliable and balanced power supply for your home, office and gaming computer
Finishing a simple block, which will be ideal for a simple office assembly
15 May 2022
Has been working for 7 years, gets blown out once a year during PC cleaning with a compressor, factory seal is still in place. It's a simple normal power unit, there are some shortcomings regarding ripples, etc., in this unit, not sure if they appeared over time or were factory installed. Worked 5 years with a PC that had an i3 and one hard drive, then I bought an RX 570 graphics card. Already 6 years later, with a fairly short interval, I replaced the i3 with an i7, and after a couple of months bought an SSD, and again after a few months added RAM and another hard drive. It's been half a year since I added another drive and my PC with this power supply unit still works fine and great. I don't get those noises from the chokes and such, but I can say that the 2010 Seasonic unit in my brother's PC works much quieter than mine, so essentially this unit is quite noisy. If the noise from some malfunctions of the chokes is such an electrical noise, then maybe they make noise as well, but it's not really noticeable, because I can only hear this noise if I almost put my ear to the unit and listen to its noise. Conclusion. If evaluating this unit among cheap PC power supplies, I think it is the best in that category, because throughout its 7 years of work, it has worked well, and I haven't had issues with it, and even when I added a graphics card and drives to my PC, and replaced the processor to i7, it still works flawlessly. As a cheap unit, it doesn't have any protections; it has other differences like ripples, etc. - simply put, a cheap unit with its health issues.
+It cost very little when I bought it 7 years ago + It's durable, already working for 7 years, and I've had no problems with it.
-Noise. To make it noisy, if you want it for someone, so that the noise doesn’t bother me at all, but if it’s like blocking Seasonic 2010 to rock, which is on my brother’s PC, then it’s richly loud, even if my block with its noise jams my brother’s PC, and if if you work on your brother’s PC, then the flooring is quiet, so there are no inclusions.
