There are a lot of tourist equipment for sale now. Online stores are full of beautiful model names and vivid photographs. But a sleeping bag is a thing that is difficult to select remotely. I was lucky and I saw this model and a friend on the route. So I had the opportunity to inspect it and feel plenty of it inside and out. So I already knew what kind of sleeping bag I was buying. It seems to me that this is one of the best models for autumn-spring hiking routes, including in mountainous conditions. You can easily spend the night in it at temperatures up to +3 ... +5 degrees, and if you wear warm underwear, you can comfortably survive the frosts. It is designed for small growth, and this must be taken into account, but inside it is wide enough not to hinder the movement of the arms and legs. The insulation in it is synthetic, the same can be said about the outer skin and the fabric from which the lining is made. Interestingly, all three materials are very similar in chemical structure; they are based on polyester fibers. But on the outside it is a dense and tear-resistant fabric with waterproof impregnation, inside it is something like a soft breathable fleece, and the heat-insulating layer is generally a fine-fiber volumetric mass. There is a good hood, a comfortable inner pocket, a thermal collar and all the other goodies of modern technological sleeping bags. Well, the price is also pleased. Such a versatile and light sleeping bag (1.4 kg of weight) is cheaper to take than for 2000 UAH, this is good luck. New after unpacking had a strange chemical smell. I was even afraid that I would have to wash it specially. But nothing happened, a week hung on the balcony and weathered. |
A series of sleeping bags-cocoons Savana of the Czech brand Pinguin is represented by four models of different sizes. The two "male" versions are 195 and 185 cm long, the "female" Savana Lady is 175 cm, and the children's Junior is 150 cm. Also, these sleeping bags vary in colour and side of the snake.

Comfortable sleep until frost
The sleeping bag is designed for positive temperatures of use. Without numerous clothes, you can sleep in it at night when the temperature does not drop below 6 °C. The limit of comfort is a value of 1 degree above zero, which allows you to safely travel with Pinguin Savana from late spring to mid-autumn.
Protection from the cold is provided by a two-layer thermal insulation material ThermicFibre 6 based on hollow fiber. From above, the filler protects dense polyester from moisture and mechanical influences, and soft polyester SoftLite fabric contributes to a comfortable sleep.
Thoughtful ergonomics
The anatomical shape of the Pinguin Savana is complemented by an ergonomic hood and insulated collar. Both are easily pulled together with elastic bands. Inside there is a small pocket with Hook-and-loop, where you can put documents or other small items. Outside, at the bottom of the bag there are loops for hanging: they will simplify both storage and drying of the product.
The sleeping bag is fastened with a two-way zipper, which allows you to combine two bags into one spacious bed. Moreover, the manufacturer claims that Savana is compatible with all branded cocoons with ThermicFibre insulation, including the equally popular Pinguin Comfort 185 model.
Minimum bag space
The weight of the sleeping bag is 1.4 kg, and the dimensions when folded using a compression bag are 18x37 cm, with the ability to additionally compress the product in length up to 24 cm. It will not take up much space in a tourist backpack. Including due to this, the Pinguin Savana 185 is a good choice for trekking, cycling and comfortable camping in weather when the thermometer does not drop below zero.
