A slim TV from the Philips The One lineup, offering viewers a bright, vibrant, and rich picture on a 50-inch diagonal 4K screen. The image seems to extend beyond the display — the Ambilight backlighting illuminates the wall behind, creating a hazy halo around the screen that matches the colors of changing scenes. This effect visually expands the screen area, making watching TV more engaging. The Philips 50PUS8518 supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision image formats with high dynamic range, complemented by quality sound from a pair of 10-watt speakers with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The smart TV system is powered by Google TV, offering movie, series, and show recommendations directly on the main screen (from all installed apps and services). For watching digital broadcast grid programs,...the TV includes a built-in multiformat DVB-T2/C/S2 tuner. Notably, the model features integrated Chromecast and a convenient voice search through Google Assistant.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Philips 43PUS8518 43" TV offers excellent picture quality and fast performance, making it a great choice for watching movies and gaming with consoles like the PS5 or Nintendo Switch. The standout feature is the Ambilight technology, which enhances the viewing experience significantly. However, it operates at only 60 Hz, which might be a limitation for some users. Additionally, there is a bright light that remains on when the TV is off, which could be bothersome. While the TV has a user-friendly interface, there are concerns about its reliability, as one user reported a significant issue with the screen after just over two years, requiring a costly matrix replacement. Despite these concerns, the TV's features like Chromecast, voice control, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision make it a compelling option for those seeking a feature-rich television.
Pros

Cons

A great TV for watching movies and using with consoles.

The TV is worth attention, used in conjunction with ps5 or nintendo switch
Excellent picture quality, fast performance. The Ambilight technology is simply out of this world, I am now considering only Philips TVs for purchase.
only 60 Hz, but there are TVs in the lineup with this parameter
another downside is the overly bright light that shines when the TV is off, I don’t see any more drawbacks

Do not buy Philips, they are unreliable
Image, user-friendly interface
Purchased the 55PUS85 in December 2021, in March 2024 (2 years and 3 months). 2/3 of the screen lost its image, the service said that a matrix replacement is needed, which costs as much as the TV. And the warranty is only for 2 years. So the TV lasts for 2 years.
