Perhaps I was just unlucky, but I am disappointed. Starting with the system. R9 5900x and Aorus b550 Pro v2. I bought this set thinking "I'll just enable XMP and off we go." With XMP, it wouldn't start at all. I tried increasing the timings and setting the voltage above the declared 1.35 (above 1.37 the memory won't start at all with any settings) - to no avail, the system either doesn't start or crashes during a 3-5 minute stress test. I had to lower the frequency to 3400. It passed a 30 minute stress test and I began trying games - got crashes (Apex Legends crashed after 5-10 minutes of gameplay). I had to lower the frequency to 3333 MHz with timings of 17-21-21-41. The latency at this is 69 which results in freezes. With timings 17-20-20-40 there are no freezes, but crashes start. In the end, I am extremely disappointed with the choice of memory. Perhaps I was unlucky with the chips or I have some compatibility issues, but that doesn’t make it any easier. It seems like the memory is "Ryzen ready" and all the components are decent. Support on VK said that for Ryzen 3200 is the specification limit, and anything higher is luck. Well yeah, then i9-10900k shouldn’t operate above 2933. Beautiful, perfect for blackout builds, good radiator. Doesn't pick up the stated frequencies. |
