Synthetic with Down-Like Insulation
In Nordisk's line, the Oscar -20 sleeping bag holds a flagship position and is designed for extreme conditions — winter hikes and harsh expeditions. The insulation used is a single layer of synthetic tubular NorGuard S-PO s-core material — a proprietary development with insulation comparable to natural down. Weighing just 2.06 kg, the cocoon is designed for overnight stays in temperatures ranging from -15 to -20 °C. All stated characteristics are confirmed by tests according to the European standard EN 13537, guaranteeing data accuracy.
Reasonable Dimensions and Thoughtful Features
The sleeping bag measures 205×73×55 cm, making it suitable for users up to 190 cm tall. It comes with a compression sack, allowing the volume to be reduced to 38×27×27 cm — thus, the sleeping bag occupies less than 28 liters in a backpack.
Apart from the main side zipper, the model features an additional closure in the foot area and another slider in the central part — for ventilation on warm nights. If it gets hot, the sleeping bag can be fully unzipped and used as a large blanket. Durable nylon fabrics are used in the construction, the outer shell is reinforced with Ripstop weaving, and the hood is equipped with adjustments for better heat retention. For convenience in the dark, the zipper sliders are complemented with reflective elements.
Drawbacks include the relatively high price, comparable to down counterparts, and the lack of the option to zip together with another cocoon.
