listen, taste and make your choice. sound. Perception of sound is a very individual thing. After listening to a number of headphones in approximately the same price range, it's nice when something truly captivates you. Design, quality, sensations – all of that is cool, too. But sound is above all... weight (but you get used to it), price |
Master&Dynamic MH40 turned out to be very heavy. The problem is not so much in the weight itself, but in the small contact area with your head - it is quite small. As a result, there is more pressure. You can play around with bending the headband as shown in reviews, but I chose not to and returned them. :) Compared to Sony MDR-1A - the latter feels weightless. :) Headset. Sony MDR-1A turned out to be better in terms of noise cancellation when using the headset feature. Despite all this, the sound is quite decent. They look very luxurious. If it weren't for the headband and the excess weight, they would have been rated 5+. Sound, design for ears (comfortably inside ears) Ability to connect another set of headphones (or something else in the chain). MUTE button, which is simply necessary for chain connection. Appearance. Weight - 345 g. Unfortunate headband for such a weight. use Master&Dynamic MH40 week i recommend it don't buy |
The stylish boutique Master & Dynamic MH40 headphones are made for retro design lovers. They look absolutely fantastic, and the price matches — 400 USD.
Retro style
The blend of leather and metal is quite elegant, and the 6 colorways — 3 black options, two blue, and one white — let you pick the combo you like best. There’s also a 7th option, full-on retro in brown with metal cups and rims. It looks incredibly stylish.
Closed-back cups with memory-foam earpads covered in sheepskin leather fully wrap your ears, delivering solid passive noise isolation. They’re held on by magnets, so they’re easy to remove and swap when needed.
Two cables
The bundled fabric-braided cable comes in two versions: with an RC remote and without. It’s detachable, plugs into either cup, and the headphone jacks work both as input and output, so you can daisy-chain a second pair of headphones. The one with the RC remote is Apple-compatible and shorter at 1.25 m. The standard audio cable is 2 m long.
Design and accessories
Saying these headphones fit everyone perfectly would be rash. You need to try them. They’re also not light at 360 g, so if you shake your head hard, they might slip off.
Since the design doesn’t fold, the set includes a fairly bulky soft cotton case and a small round cable pouch you can tuck into a special pocket inside the case.
Sound
It’s great to have a Mute button that turns the sound off and back on. Super handy when you need to hear something without taking the headphones off.
As for the sound, 45 mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets handle it at a high level. The soundstage is very detailed and vivid, especially appealing to fans of electronic music. With the MH40, many of your favorite tracks will reveal new nuances. You can tell it’s a flagship in every way.
The maker also kept podcast recorders and callers in mind who want perfectly clear voice. You can optionally buy and attach the branded MM800 inline mic to the cable.
All in all, the Master & Dynamic MH40 can be considered a very attractive, branded pair of headphones with great sound — but not without drawbacks.
