Special embedded (internal) server-class hard drive of small capacity from the HP Proliant HardDrive line of 2.5" HDDs, designed for use in HPE ProLiant servers (Gen10+, Gen11, Gen12, and newer), HPE Direct Attached Storage, and HPE Storage Arrays. This family includes reliable drives whose design and firmware are optimized for tasks involving long-term data storage in disk arrays with a large number of HDDs.

Supports Hot-Plug and Hot-Swap technology. With its high rotational speed (10,000 RPM) and SAS interface, the HP Server SAS 10K 2.5" P28586-B21 hard drive delivers much better performance and lower latency compared to traditional SATA-HDDs at 7,200 RPM, especially in random read/write operations typical for server workloads. It can only be used in SAS or SAS/SATA bays that support hot swapping or connect to a controller with an SFF-8482 cable (purchased separately). Widely used to create various levels of RAID (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, etc.) to enhance performance, fault tolerance, or a combination thereof. The drive comes with special Basic Carrier HPE sliders, which ensure hot-swapping and proper installation in server compartments. HPE Digitally Signed Firmware guarantees the security of server systems.
