Model overview based on user reviews
The Garrett AT Pro is a versatile metal detector suitable for both land and underwater searches, with a waterproof capability of up to 3 meters. It operates on a VLF principle with a 15 kHz detection frequency, offering a maximum detection depth of 80 cm and a coin detection depth of 35 cm. Users appreciate its excellent performance and ability to separate objects like beer caps and coins effectively. The device is robust, handling various weather conditions like rain, snow, and frost without issues. However, some users find the armrest and plug to be weak points, and the device can be challenging for beginners due to its complexity. The Garrett AT Pro is particularly designed for searching US coins, but some users note it may not effectively detect modern coins or differentiate between gold and foil. Despite these drawbacks, it remains a reliable choice for experienced users who appreciate its durability and functionality.
Pros

Cons

An excellent device for both land and water, like a machine gun, dirt, rain, snow, this is his.

I don’t agree with the previous review, the cable is normal if you don’t disassemble and reassemble and twist it ten times. Just because you've been using it for a year doesn't mean anything. If, of course, you have a Chinese device, then there is nothing to be said. Rain snow mud it works for me frost it worked minus 16. No problem, nothing is buggy, you just haven’t figured it out yourself. If you can’t figure out the device, start with the standard, it’s like on the ace, everyone says don’t go straight into the pro mode. And now to the one who sells and gives incorrect characteristics to the device. Its depth is not 80 cm but 150. Otherwise it turns out better than prokhor. Secondly, it is a waterproof device, yes, but it is not underwater, as you say, you forgot to clarify that the headphones included with the device are land headphones and cannot be used in water, for water you need to buy additional other headphones, which have gone from three thousand to five. Well, it’s different everywhere, of course. And the fact that they didn’t say at what depth he saw a 35cm five-kopeck coin or a scale. He sees even at 45. If you know how to listen, it depends on the ground. By the way, without headphones he is not quiet, but screaming at the whole forest. I won’t change anything, I like everything, I’ve polished the cons, I don’t use any coils anymore, and experience has told me that they are simply not needed.
An excellent device. I've been using it for 4 years, I got it from a Fisher 75, it's also not a simple machine.
The armrest is rubbish, even though they have now started to make it with ribs on both ASIA and Pro, it’s still rubbish, a plastic pipe is being treated for rigidity. If you are going to buy his head, replace the two screws with long holes, otherwise one day your head will fall off, it will also be treated. Over time, any device will crumble, even a sulking frog.

Device for the USA

If used in Russia, I wouldn't recommend it.
The device is designed for searching for US coins.
Identifies gold and foil the same way. Doesn't detect modern coins after 2009 at all. Turkish gold and foil both at 45. Defines 3 kopecks late Soviet the same as Tsarist gold. Volume cannot be adjusted. If you go out in the morning, you'll wake up the entire neighborhood.

it’s better not to buy for beginners - it’s quite difficult to learn
excellent performance. Separates beer caps. The sound in zero mode separates coins from other objects. unpretentious.
the plug is very weak and it is impossible to buy a replacement. The wire breaks in the cold.

Underwater detective

AT PRO in the line of Garrett, one of the world's leading manufacturers of metal detectors, occupies a leading position in terms of popularity.

Lightweight and agile

The top and middle sections of the aluminium S-bar are powder-coated, and the bottom section is made of carbon, so even the toughest and most intensive use of the AT Pro is not intimidating.

The assembly on spring buttons pleases with durability: backlashes are excluded and it is unlikely that they will be found. Good balance, anatomical armrest and polyurethane handle make using the device a real pleasure.

The large PRO DD coil (28x22cm) is surprisingly light (400 g) and does not require additional protection. Epoxy filler will not let it crack. In general, the ergonomics of the detector is so successful that even with a weight of 1.4 kg without batteries, you won’t have to get tired of holding it for a long time.

The 105 cm cable is protected by wear-resistant insulation. The sealed housing of the electronic unit allows the device to be used in water at a depth of up to 3 m, but for underwater searches it is recommended, nevertheless, to isolate it additionally, since the claimed depth is somewhat exaggerated.

Zero gentlemen!

AT Pro uses a frequency of 15 kHz and has 6 search programs, three of which are carried out in PRO mode, which allows you to more accurately identify the nature of the found item. The maximum efficiency of the device is achieved in the Zero Pro mode (All metals).

The VDI numeric parameter ranges from 0 to 99, and the Iron Audio function allows you to cut off the iron indication signals, notifying only of found non-ferrous metals. By the way, the device perfectly finds coins at a depth of up to 35 cm, and the total maximum search depth reaches 80 cm. In addition, the device has a detuning from interference, which increases the detection accuracy and reduces the risk of false positives.

battery life

The metal detector is powered by 4 AA batteries, which allow you to work 30 hours, and are included in the kit. A trifle, but nice. Also included are branded headphones, though for a somewhat unusual plug, not 3.5mm, but pin.

Other inconveniences include the lack of display backlight, a quiet external speaker and the location of the battery compartment, which, if not held when opening, falls and risks breaking.

AT Pro makes searching possible everywhere: both in water and on land, which justifies its considerable cost. An excellent all-round choice.
