How to choose a backup power generatorKey points to consider when choosing your own stand-alone mini-power plant

How to connect the generator to the house: through a socket, a switch and an ATS unitThree Ways to Connect a Backup Power Plant to a Household Power Grid
I bought it on the recommendation of friends for a country house where everything is electric: refrigerator, air conditioner, heating (convector heaters), electric stove. This generator handles everything excellently if you don't turn everything on simultaneously and at full power. The average load on the generator in the evening is 2-2.5 kilowatts, and it copes with it without problems. Fuel consumption is about 1.2-1.5 l/h (although I haven't managed to calculate it exactly yet), but certainly not 310 g/kW*h, as stated in the manual. The generator is very heavy, but it has wheels for transportation, a copper winding, and an electric starter. All electrical appliances turn on without any problem, not requiring additional stabilizers. One downside is that it is very loud, the exhaust is quite harsh. copper winding, electric starter very loud, consumes more fuel than specified. ![]() |
