Model overview based on user reviews
The ELAC Vela BS403 speakers are noted for their expensive appearance and quality materials, but they have received criticism for their sound quality. Users describe the sound as cold, emotionless, and lacking in transparency, with a spatially blurred high frequency due to the ribbon emitter. The speakers are characterized by a metallic tint in the sound, attributed to the aluminum bass drivers, and have low sensitivity and weak dynamics. While they may appeal to audiophiles interested in discerning sounds, they may not satisfy music lovers seeking emotional and engaging audio experiences. The speakers are described as having a recessed midrange and a virtual stage that feels distant, which may not align with the expectations of those seeking a traditional Hi-Fi experience.
Pros

Cons

Expensive and pointless. No sound. And not at all Hi-Fi.

The traditions of German acoustics, whether expensive or affordable, even if made in China or Germany, are such that the sound lacks emotions, is neutral or cold, and the virtual stage is not in front but between and behind the speakers. This creates the impression that the acoustics are playing for themselves or inwardly. Expensive German acoustics are the dream of audiophiles who want to discern sounds. It is certainly not for music lovers. And I say this having previous experience of listening to and owning such speakers as Heco, Elac, Burmester, and Magnat. This is the nature of Elac Acoustics. The bass drivers are aluminum. The characteristic metallic tint is present throughout, which is expected. Low sensitivity and consequently detail. Low transparency of sound, weak dynamics, and a recessed midrange, which is also expected with a fully concave low-midrange speaker.
Looks expensive, quality materials.
Suitable for listening to sounds only. Only robots will be happy. The sound is cold and emotionless. In addition, tape HF produces spatially blurred, unclear frequencies. The point of using it is only in its rarity and high cost.
