Beginner-level telescope designed for those who want to delve into the study of astronomy and are willing to spend time learning the basics. It is built on a Newtonian reflector base with a 127 mm aperture and a long focal length of about 1000 mm, resulting in a narrower field of view compared to other models, but providing a clearer image at high magnifications. This makes the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ telescope suitable for observing the Moon, planets, double stars, and bright star clusters, although nebulous objects and galaxies will be less accessible without dark skies. This model is suitable as a first telescope for novice astronomy enthusiasts who are ready to patiently understand the features of setup and operation, but do not expect professional quality images.

Transform your camping trips and backyard evenings into unforgettable cosmic adventures with the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ MD SMART Telescope. Designed as the perfect entry point for aspiring astronomers, this telescope combines powerful optics with user-friendly features, making it an ideal choice for families and beginners eager to explore the... moreuniverse.At the heart of the PowerSeeker 127EQ is its large 127mm (5-inch) primary mirror. This impressive aperture gathers a significant amount of light, allowing you to move beyond the Moon and see breathtaking detail in the cosmos. Gaze upon the intricate craters and maria of the lunar surface, clearly resolve the majestic rings of Saturn, and track the Galilean moons as they dance around Jupiter. On clear, dark nights, this telescope has the power to reveal fainter deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy, bringing the wonders of the universe directly to your eyepiece. This model features a sturdy German Equatorial (EQ) mount, a critical tool for serious stargazing. Unlike simpler mounts, the EQ mount is designed to align with the Earth´s axis of rotation. Once polar aligned, you can easily track celestial objects as they move across the night sky using the precision slow-motion control knobs. This makes it effortless to keep planets and stars centered for extended viewing. What truly elevates this package is the included MD Motor Drive. This essential accessory attaches to the equatorial mount and automates the tracking process. Once you locate an object, the motor drive will keep it perfectly centered in your field of view, compensating for the Earth´s rotation. This is a game-changing feature for group viewing, allowing everyone to take a look without constant manual readjustment, and it is indispensable for anyone interested in trying basic astrophotography.Unlock the SMART potential of this telescope by using the included smartphone adapter. This simple yet effective tool allows you to securely attach your smartphone to the eyepiece, turning your telescope into a powerful astrophotography device. Capture stunning images of the Moon and bright planets to share with friends and family, creating lasting memories of your celestial discoveries. The Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ is engineered for convenience. The no-tool setup means you can assemble the telescope and be ready for observation in just a few minutes, making it the perfect companion for spontaneous stargazing sessions or as an essential piece of your camping gear. The complete kit includes everything you need to get started, including two eyepieces (20mm and 4mm) for varied magnification, a 3x Barlow lens to triple the power of each eyepiece, and a finderscope for easy object location. You also get access to Celestron´s Starry Night Basic Edition software, a fantastic resource for learning the night sky and planning your observations.Embark on your astronomical journey today. Model overview based on user reviews
The Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ is a beginner-friendly telescope with a compact design, making it suitable for schoolchildren and novices. However, it has notable drawbacks, such as a large central obstruction (32%) and a questionable quality corrector lens, which result in low contrast images even at moderate magnifications. The inclusion of a 4mm eyepiece and a 3x Barlow lens seems to be more about increasing the product's cost rather than enhancing its performance. Users have noted that these issues are common in budget telescopes, particularly those manufactured in China. Despite these limitations, the telescope can still serve as an introductory tool for understanding the basics of telescope construction, but it may not satisfy those looking for higher quality optics.
Pros

Cons

a model with serious flaws
18 February 2016
For beginners, LA is categorically contraindicated. Better buy 114EQ.
Pretty small pipe.
The large central obstruction (32%), combined with a questionable quality corrector lens and a spherical primary mirror, produces low contrast images even at 100x. Accordingly, a 4mm eyepiece and 3x Barlow lens are used by the manufacturer solely to increase the cost of this "device for studying the construction of a telescope"!

normal model, nothing special

What do you want from a Chinese craft for such a price. All firms are like that. I have a DS2130 Meade with the same crap. With short tubes, this corrector lens is really crap, in fact a barlow lens. It is set in order to reduce the size of the pipe (the real focal length of the main mirror is less than 1.5-2 times from the total focal system). Throw it to hell and use a normal barlow lens.
Suitable for schoolchildren and beginners.
All the disadvantages that are inherent in all cheap pipes of absolutely all companies (and there is only one company, China)
