Wanting to brighten up the grey working days, as well as attract a younger audience, Asus played with the design of the new VivoBook S and released 5 different colours for each model. It looks quite bold, especially models with red and yellow side panels, as well as a green body with a textile texture of the working panel. In addition to the design, the models attract buyers with low price tags, high battery life and fashionable ultra-thin frames.

Core i3: 2 cores + 2 cores

But with hardware, the situation is ambiguous: the Core i3 processor, although dual-core, handles quite well with simple tasks (web surfing, working with documents, etc.). Fortunately, it supports multithreading (there are 2 additional virtual cores), operates at frequencies of 2.2 — 3.4 GHz and belongs to the eighth generation of Intel processors. But only 4 GB of RAM in the future will surely become the bottleneck of the system. After all, 8 GB has long been the norm, and in many performant PCs they already put 16 GB to the fullest. Although, for simple and undemanding tasks, 4 GB is still enough.

At the same time, for some reason, a discrete graphics card NVIDIA GeForce MX150 was installed in the Asus VivoBook S13. Yes, thanks to it you can play Tanks, but wouldn't it be better to save on it for the sake of RAM? But, thank the gods of technology, ultrabooks finally abandoned clumsy hard drives and here we have a fairly fast 128 GB SSD. The volume is not the most outstanding, but for the system and a small storage should be enough.

NanoEdge design

Among the interesting features of the model, we highlight excellent battery life (holds up to 12 hours), fast charging, a comfortable backlit keyboard, a fingerprint scanner and compact dimensions, which became possible thanks to the ultra-thin display bezels. Asus designers call them NanoEdge and claim that the display here occupies 86% of the front surface. At the same time, the screen itself is excellent here, the same one is in the older, more expensive VivoBook models. But the webcam was not delivered. Apparently, thin frames did not allow. Although, taking into account all of the above and the price of $ 550, such deprivation can be endured.
