My wife and I really wanted to install a "granite" sink in the new kitchen. We saw one at our son's place, and my wife quite liked it. However, we were hesitant to buy a completely Chinese product, and the products from German, Italian, and other purely European brands were beyond our budget. The Lithuanian company AquaSanita came to the rescue. The assortment of this young Eastern European company is considerable, and it wasn't difficult to find an inexpensive, compact granite model. The material from which the sink is made, artificial granite, is simply magnificent. It looks exactly like a stone and is just as pleasant as natural granite cools the hand, but in fact it is made from a mixture of quartz (about 85%) and polymer (15%). The resulting surface has most of the useful properties of granite (hardness, wear and heat resistance) and is devoid of some important disadvantages (discoloration over time, brittleness). The sink looks very neat and takes up little space. Equipped with a drain unit and a convenient valve with a kind of metal basket for collecting garbage. Despite the advertising stories about heat resistance up to 280 degrees, the instruction manual says that in no case should you put hot pans and pots on the sink, because supposedly they could heat up more than the threshold indicated above. Pots? Stronger than 280 degrees? LOL what? I think that in fact the temperature threshold beyond which stains will remain on the sink is not so far from 100 degrees. This does not mean that the sink will fall apart, just that the overheated surface will change color. It is also not recommended to use any, even soft abrasive products, which is also puzzling. |
