A premium set-top box with features that go far beyond the average media centre. In fact, Apple The New TV combines the functionality of a network player, a Smart TV module, and even a game console. This is ensured by the tvOS operating system installed on board with the voice assistant Siri and its own application store, as well as the original remote control with a microphone and motion sensors (for controlling games). There is only one wired output in the device — HDMI, and wireless standards include Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and AirPlay. Model overview based on user reviews
The Apple TV 4th Generation 32GB is a compact media player that functions as a full-fledged tvOS device, allowing users to install apps from the App Store. It connects to TVs via HDMI and supports high-speed network connections through Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Bluetooth 4.0. The ultra-fast Wi-Fi enables smooth streaming of content from Apple devices like MacBooks and iPads to the TV screen via AirPlay, without lags. However, regional restrictions limit the availability of online TV broadcasts, and Siri is not accessible in some areas. The remote control, while stylish, can be slippery and is not ideal for typing on the on-screen keyboard. Despite these drawbacks, the device offers convenience and integrates well into the Apple ecosystem, making it a valuable addition for users already invested in Apple products. The high-security standards and ease of use are notable advantages, although the cost of accessing media content online can be high. Overall, it is a good model for those seeking seamless integration with other Apple devices.

good model, I liked it.
15 May 2017
In general, not so long ago, just about two years ago, I completely did not understand why people buy Apple devices. They are expensive, have their own ecosystem incompatible with the usual Windows and Android environment. But everything changed with a new job that I started those same two years ago. As a work, meaning corporate, phone, I was given an iPhone, and the work desktop was a Mac. If I were to briefly formulate the reasons for "converting to the Apple faith," convenience would be at the top. These devices are made for convenient use, and they already have almost everything an ordinary user needs. You put in minimal effort and get maximum results. Additionally, Apple’s high-security standards are also a pleasure. Naturally, I soon had an iPad, MacBook at home, and this winter I also acquired an Apple TV set-top box.
In fact, this set-top box is a small but full-fledged iOS (more precisely tvOS) device on which you can install applications from the App Store. An HDMI cable is connected to the TV, high-speed Ethernet ports, WiFi (version 802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.0 are available for connecting to the network. I was especially pleased with the ultra-fast WiFi, this is the second such device in my house after the router, but I think it's not the last. Unfortunately, due to regional restrictions, there are few online TV broadcasts available, although I actively use the ones that are available to work on my English. The most requested feature was the broadcast of pictures, including movies and videos, from the MacBook and iPad to the TV screen via AirPlay. Through WiFi 802.11ac, this happens smoothly and without lags. Similarly, you can broadcast games on the TV screen.
Siri is not available in our region (( Limited number of App Store apps. High prices for online access to media content. The plastic inserts on the remote look great, but can slip out of your fingers when you lift the remote from the table. Also, the remote is not very convenient for using the on-screen keyboard.

In a small black box of a square shape, a very good “hardware” fit for a smart set-top box — a bunch of the Apple A8 processor and 2 GB of RAM can also be found in the Apple iPhone 6 smartphone or the Apple iPad mini 4 tablet.

Powerful hardware

Powerful hardware is installed in the device for a reason — it is entrusted with the obligation to ensure the nimble responsiveness of the interface of the tvOS operating system, the hallmark of which is support for installing applications from the AppStore store. And although there are much fewer programs for the television platform than for mobile devices, all the basic needs of users in watching videos online and in accessing online movie storage are taken into account. In addition, each subsequent shell update brings new benefits, for example, as part of the WWDC-2017 event, Apple announced support for Amazon video services.

Remote control

Management of all functions of the set-top box is implemented using the remote control. There are only a few buttons on it, in return, the user is invited to use touch input — a responsive trackpad at the top of the remote control case clearly responds to all finger touches and greatly simplifies menu navigation, as well as rewinding videos. In addition, under the aluminium shell of the case, there was a place for an accelerometer and a gyroscope (comfortable control in games), a Bluetooth module and a built-in microphone for giving voice commands and communicating with the Siri assistant (understands only English). The remote control is charged via the Lighthing connector.

Interfaces

Interfaces for connecting external devices are represented by one HDMI connector, an Ethernet port and a service USB Type-C. But there is no audio output in the equipment of the device. It can be replaced by the ability to connect wireless solutions, for example, smart speakers for the Apple HomePod home. Among other things , it should be noted that the set-top box supports Air Play technology — broadcasting pictures from the screen of “apple” gadgets(photos, videos, games, etc.) to the TV screen.
